I visited Abbey House Museum today, and it was a delightful journey through time. The museum is charmingly located in a historic building that adds to its character. The exhibits are well-curated, showcasing local history with a focus on the Victorian era, which I found particularly engaging. One of the highlights was the recreated Victorian street. Walking through it felt like stepping back in time, complete with shopfronts and authentic details that brought the past to life. The atmosphere was immersive and truly captured the essence of the period. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to share insights and answer questions, which enhanced the experience. Overall, Abbey House Museum is a hidden gem that beautifully showcases local history. I left feeling enriched and inspired, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
A super interesting museum that feels like you’ve stepped back in time. Immerse yourself in Victorian-era Leeds as you walk along the cobbled streets, peek into shop windows and walk into the school house and pub. The staff were very friendly. It’s around £7 entry for an adult.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Haven't been to Abby house since I was 10. It's very interesting we enjoyed it very much. Was given info about the connection to The Abby over the road, too. It's worth a visit..Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
With plenty of free parking over the road, Abbey House Museum is a lovely little day out. Very much aimed at children and young people, there is lots to see and things for them to get involved with. There was the 'gnome sweet gnome' event which keot little ones and parents and us with no kids entertained and looking around the exhibits. Layout could do with a bit of work maybe more signage but the most of the staff were friendly & helpful. The old penny games upstairs were fun and you could spend a lot of time here with kids.
I really enjoyed this museum so much so I'd like to visit again without my children so I could take in a lot more of the stuff! My kids were so excited and really enjoyed the old fashioned street as well as the penny arcade. It was quite busy when we went as it was half term but not too busy as to be a nuisance and I did expect it with it being half term. That being said I have knocked a star off as the penny arcade was quite busy with children to be expected who were obviously quite excited but there was a member of staff there over seeing that section of the museum and she was very rude and blunt both to me and to the children my own and other people's children. I would visit again shame about that member of staff maybe she could do with some more training.
This museum has an amazing collection of Victorian artifacts, but even more remarkable is their staff. They were kind and so helpful, making this experience just the more memorable. I had an absolute blast on my visit. Abbey House Museum is a must go if you are in the area, 10/10.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Nice atmosphere just a shame everything is so overpriced. You can buy a coronation chicken sandwich here for £5.40 yet go around the corner to home bargains on kirkstall bridge and only pay a £1.00. They don't even do toast which seems surprising. Who knows what it would cost anyways?Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What an amazing place.. was fabulous for me & my husband 2 look at, explore & compare all the toys what we had when we were children .. fabulous
Brilliant gem of a museum. Affordable entry and it's discounted if you're a Leeds resident. Parking is just across the street in a public car park. It takes just over and over, no more than 2 to visit the museum. The victorian streets are fascinating to look at, and very atmospheric. Upstairs there's a penny arcade with vintage machines. It's pocket change to get pennies to use, and a lot of fun. No bad things to say really. The museum is well maintained and one of the upstairs galleries changes exhibitions fairly regularly.
Lovely nostalgic trip back to a museum I last visited as a child. I took my kids during the Easter holiday and we all loved exploring the Victorian streets, shops and alleys. The childhood toys on display in the upstairs galleries brought back plenty of memories as well. Great place to visit and very reasonable entry fees too.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
