I've eaten in at least 20 different pie and mash shops across London and the south east, and this is quite possibly the worst pie and mash I've ever had the misfortune of trying. The pies consisted of a teaspoon of rubbery pink mince in the middle of raw pastry, served with lumpy liquor and even lumpier mash. Keep north of the river for decent pie and mash.
sad that i had to even give it a star just to review it,, seriously, was the worst pie and mash i have ever had, pie was like trying to bite though a rubber sole of a shoe, Awful. mash was lumpy and slightly warm, and liquor was also warm with no taste to it at all, , totally horrid and never again will i enter their door. I cant even see a reason as to why the food was so bad, i went at around 11am so should have been all fresh as they only been open an hour, . very sad example of a real traditional pie and mash shop .
Great pie and mash pukka stuff. The Greenwich one is not the shame people, they nicked the name and is owned by gourmet burger kitchen. Dont get confused totally different. Deptford high street only people. .
I wanted to explore what traditional mash and pie is and means. I think it was authentic, all home made and I was fully satisfied after this lunch. Will definitely be back.
Glad you're closing down!! Animals are not food. Times have changed and people are not supporting cruelty anymore. In other words "meat" pies are unacceptable to sell. It's also called karma for supporting the slaughter of animals.
This is the best pie and mash in the U.K. The council will be shutting them down in August. That's the end of an era council should 're think this decision When it's gone its gone forever
best pie & mash in London don't get twisted with Goddards in Greenwich they may have the same name but nothing to do with these guys Goddards in Deptford high street is the best
The best pie and mash shop, I remember going in the late 60s early 70s and it still hasn't changed they make all the pies on the premises, proper pie and mash none of these pies are shipped in like some other pie and mash shops
My family and friends have been going here for over 30 years or more, been to many and couldn't ask for a better pie and mash, at least they haven't ruined their pies with GRAVY Mash and liquor just how it's should be, and the puddings...... sooooo good Keep up the good cooking, we'll be to you soon enough, Dorset isn't that far to come just for your pie and mash
Love love love Goddards!!! What a shame Southwark council want to build homes on it and take the lease : Another historial public place that's been taken from the community : The up to date Goddards chain in Greenwich etc just ain't the same as the original in Deptford!
