So grateful. Wonderful treatment and staff. My husband collapsed while cycling and someone drove him to Alltwen. Although only a minor injury unit, they immediately diagnosed heart attack, treated and stabilised him and sent him by emergency ambulance to the N.Wales cardiac centre , where he was immediately operated on. The whole process couldn't have been more streamlined if we'd planned it. I won't hear a word against our NHS! Diolch yn fawr iawn.
We visited here on 1st July whilst on holiday locally, as my wife's lower leg was getting worse from an insect bite which she had suffered a week earlier back home.nThe initial visit was in the late afternoon, and she was able to see a nurse quite quickly without too much waiting.nThe nurse was unable to treat my wife as she believed it could be a bite from an infected tick, so she recommended that my wife should call 111 and mention that she has been advised by the nurse to see an out-of-hours emergency doctor, who would be available from 8pm at Tremadog.nAround 7:30pm we had a callback from the nurse we had seen earlier, encouraging us to call 111 as she had logged my wife's details onto the system, so that they would be ready for an incoming call.nWe then made the call, and within minutes of doing so, we received a call back from the out-of-hours doctor. He said that we could come back to the hospital immediately only 10 minutes by car and he would see us.nThe service and treatment that he gave my wife was fantastic!nHe examined her leg, and diagnosed cellulitis, from the insect bite which had occurred a week earlier. As it was very sore and spreading, he was wary that it could trigger sepsis, so he had no hesitation in immediately putting her on to a double strength dose of antibiotics. Following the 7 day course, thankfully the symptoms and the rash had subsided.nWe cannot thank the doctor and nurses at that hospital enough. Simply fantastic service, and I must say even much better than the service that my wife received back home in Wolverhampton at the local walk-in centre.nIf you're on holiday near to Tremadog and you require a minor emergency medical treatment or consultation, don't worry, you'll be well looked after at this hospital !
Lovely nurses at MIU.nBut a 1.5 hour trip could have been saved if I was told on the phone I wouldn’t be examined.nRang and said I think I broke my little toe, told me to come in. Travelled over, then filled out a form in the waiting room to say the same.nWent into the room, spoke to the nurses and they asked to see, and then said oh it’s your little toe! We only examine the ‘great toe’. And that was it, no checks, no X-ray. 40 minutes back home.
Our grandson hurt his hand while playing on his bike at our caravan. Staff were extremely helpful and professional in MIU, as it was Sunday there were no xray facilities but were advised to visit Mold MIU next day when we got home. The result was fractured thumb. Staff were very good, and we are grateful for their help and advice.
I thought I had broken my ankle as I heard a snap when I rolled on it. Even though there was no X Ray available as it was the weekend.to get a definitive answer, the blonde nurse Sunday 17th was super empathetic, professional and knowledgeable and reassured me that it was not broken but sprained but assured me it was still super serious and that I needed to rest. Thank you so much for the reassurance.
