Fitness Centre Review not hostel: This place has a great sense of community! Lovely friendly staff, great classes and nice members. Membership is very reasonable and it also runs a morning creche which is so handy! The gym itself and the female changing rooms are quite small and basic. They could do with a refurb...But taking everything into account this is a great fitness centre. I feel good knowing that they are a charity and 'd rather give them my custom than the money making, rip-off, big chain type of gyms that couldn't care less about you.
Gym is a bit grubby but the staff are fantastic and so are the classes. I used to pay £100 a month for the Lab but still come to YMCA as classes so much better. Always great energy from Paul the manager at the club and all the team are nice. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the people make it better than all the other soulless gym's in the area I've tried them.
Review in the gym: the classes, instructors and staff are great. Gym has new equipment now but lay out could be improved. Good value for money anyway.
Has to be one of my favourite places. What it lacks in regards glitz and glamour it makes up for with good reliable services. It has all you need to keep healthy of mind and spirit. There is no pool and the sauna needs some TLC, but its affordable and has some great characters that use the service.
Received amazing customer service from Michelle at different occasions!
I attend the gym there for sessions but have never stayed at the hostel. Back in the 70s I stayed in the YWCA in Great Russell Street. The food wasn't wonderful - it was pretty awful in fact - and many had to share a room with more than one person. The boiler often broke down. The thing good about it was the rent was cheap. I believe now the YWCA has merged with YMCA. I hear that staying there the cost is now way over the top. But you can get housing benefit if you're lucky enough to be over 21.
“My daughter absolutely loves the gymnastics classes and holiday gymnastics camps she does at the YMCA. She has made lots of lovely friends from outside school which is a real bonus. The staff are so friendly and there is a real community spirit at the centre”. Zena Watt, parent.
Lovely gym with great classes and an outstanding competitive gymnastics program. The coaches are very supportive and involved in all aspects of the training of their athletes.
The gym is quite nice and they have everything I need for my workouts. I wish it was bigger, but that's not really a problem since there's not that many people at any time.
Just dropped in this evening to enquire about joining up...they have really done a great job on the refurb...and Rachel is very persuasive on how great the classes are.
