I made the mistake of ignoring the bad reviews, thinking “how bad can they be?” Cue two hours of them saying that either the food had been delivered or that it was on its way, when neither was true. It never came and they were horrible on the phone when I tried to complain. For your own sake, avoid at all costs
Had been ordering loyally from here for over 10 years, but in the past few years the quality has drastically reduced; orders are always wrong or late and food is now watery and nothing like it used to be. I think maybe it had new owners who didn't maintain the previous quality and complaints seem to make no difference so I stopped going after giving them several chances to improve. Very disappointing
I saw the reviews and thought how bad can this be? It is shockingly bad. I ordered spareribs and what came was lamb or goat. It looked grey and nasty. Tasted worse. Ordered fried rice that was so tasteless. Like not even a pinch of salt or pepper. I threw most of the food away as I didn’t want to be sick in a foreign country. Again, i’m shocked at how bad the food is from here.
I ordered late night on a sunday/ early morning of a monday. 00:40 to be EXACT! come 1.30am i did not receive ANY updates! I called to see where the food was and NOTHING! All the man could say was i will call the driver to see where he is. Didn't get a call back so i called again about 30min later.... The man then said to me its taking up to 90mins to get food prepped and out! Ok... Come 2.30am!!! I called and no answer so I just went to bed. Next day i called to complain and address i paid for a service i did not receive! And what do they do? Take almost 3 days to say it was delivered at 2.10am..... It was noted in their system! So i asked for proof of that note in their system but APPARENTLY... Due to confidentiality or what not it can't be done... I don't know what confidentiality because the person it was meant to be delivered to is me! OBVIOUSLY they KNOW they didn't deliver the food! Otherwise they would have proved to me that it was delivered! I DID NOT RECEIVE THAT DELIVERY! And the fact they are trying to call me a liar says that much! To me its not even about the money but the level of customer service. No sorry no care in the world. Complete nonsense thieving business. This is not even the first issue I've had but this now cuts the line!!! NEVER ORDER FROM THEM WITHOUT A 3RD PARTY TO PROTECT YOU! NEVER ORDER FROM THEIR WEBSITE EVERRRR. I would give 0 stars! MINUS ZERO!!
Terrible service - would not recommend at all. Ordered food, which never turned up despite the restaurant charging my card. Contacted the restaurant and was told the food was delivered. Tried to prove with facts which were false and lies. Told I would have to come into the restaurant the next day to sort it out. Avoid this place. There are other places which will actually deliver the food. Save your money. UPDATE: After contacting deliveroo, have been told xiong Mao is responsible for its own deliverys not deliveroo riders. Does not appear deliveroo is going to do anything about it, and the frequency of similar complaints about the restaurant suggests xiong Mao isn't going to do anything about it either. Recommendation is reiterated: go somehwere else
I ordered from there website late evening, food never arrived, they dont answer phone, and i never got my money back. Everytime i call they say we will speak to the manager and you will get a call back but never happens. From previous reviews i can see more people had same issues, Stealing wont take you anywhere. Avoid this place people.
I ordered chicken chow main and a soft shell crab. No wonder the crab was so cheap I wasn’t even crab. It smelt very strange but I still tried it anyway. Worst thing I could do. I woke up this morning feeling very nauseous, I got up and threw up. I feel violated that they would serve food like this. I will never be ordering here again. It actually poisoned me
# UPDATE!!! Second time was The food was amazing. It was hot, tasty and on time. Brilliant service from the actual company itself didn't use just eat. There was no problem... just sad that they don't do bubble tea, on the flip side if you love crab- everything crab and lobster are actually amazing and definitely recommend next trying the fish
I've been ordering fm here for 2+ years, never had a problem. Ene you shouldn't be visiting foreign countries as ALL of yr reviews are 1 star. Another Taj Manandar, tried changing his order after delivery was at his door, also giving 1 star. What up with this, seriously if u can't order for yrself then don't downgrade an establishment. The chef there knows where spareribs come from & its not fm clueless idiots writing reviews. And I'm not affiliated to Xiong mao.
I ordered a takeaway from this place last week, and it arrived within the suggested wait time 45 minutes, however parts of the meal was uncooked/cold, even though I live a few minutes drive away. When I called up to complain I was informed the driver was at my door 25 minutes before he actually appeared and was accused of not ringing "within the right timeframe" to report an issue even though I called a few minutes after it arrived, and my complaint was trivialized into informing me I was incorrect and was simply trying to claim "free food". The person on the phone offered to send me new food, but when I stated I was worried about the temperature he told me he would prove that I was wrong. At this point I was also told they were going to supply contact info for me to follow-up which never materialized and still hasn't. I did not follow-up further because I had three phones calls at this point and each time the man on the phone made me feel like I was lying and creating drama. The quality of the food wasn't bad, but the overall attitude and unprofessional nature was awful and at times could be seen as gaslighting towards me, I left the call feeling emotionally drained and agitated. It is sad for me to write this review as I have lived locally in the area for a number of years and always make an effort to support local businesses but the way I was spoken to and the lack of follow up has compelled me to warn others of this.
