We chose this school for our children 2 years ago due to the nice size and friendly nature of the staff & our relocation. It has been a work in progress school as when our children first started they did not have certain facilities/structures such as sports, swimming, computers & learning wise due to lack of numbers for children in certain years and the fact it was a new school first starting out. Since then this school has improved immensely, the new head has turned this school around. He has worked hard with the children and I believe more importantly listened to the children and has accommodated every possible area that was lacking something for concern. My children came from a great outstanding rated school previously with x90 per year. My children were very well educated and although thriving at the previous school they were both lost in the back of the class & big crowds and struggled with big characters. Here at Wygate Park my children have excelled in confidence, they both have been given chances at school plays something which would have never happened before. All the staff know every childs name, you get a very personal feel of the school. I love how they have a touch of humour with the children, it gives a real sense of involvement for happy children. The staff are extremely approachable the head master is not hidden away and you will often see him every now and then greeting every parent/child with a smile. I was unsure of this school a year or so ago but so pleased we persevered as it has shot right up in my expectations and better than I could have envisaged. I can now see the rewards from the fun learning environment for my children they are always happy to go to school. The new computerised homework apps keep the children engaged, new swimming lessons, science, new clubs such as Hockey, Football, Basketball, Homework clubs during lunch times for children needing any help, MI5 club, book club... just a few I have mentioned but great to see these new things come up. Most importantly they teach the children how to be kind and considerate to other children something I hold a key value of. I could go on but as a parent I highly recommend this school, and I personally believe the next inspection Wygate Park Academy will be getting a outstanding rating in every area.
