Amazing staff and a great place to visit, after speaking to one of the heritage members, it was mentioned more ruins are still underground. If they could excavate more of the city I'm sure it would be an even better experience. The audio tour was fun and the recreated roman House was great. The gift shop made the end of the experience a treat would recommend, I will be returning soon once the museum is open once more.
Visited recently. Was slightly disappointed as I had expected there to be more of it, but it is incredible to think that these ruins are 2000 years old. That said the audio guide and information boards were very informative and gave you a good idea of Roman life. The mock up of the Roman house was interesting as specially as they didn't use any modern tools or techniques to build it.
Not the most expensive Roman site I've seen. The whole site centres around what is left of the bath house, there's not a lot of building work above ground level besides one large chunk of wall. Detailed studio guide however, which is worth talking with you on your tour.
OMG I need to slap myself. I have driven past here in the past and not been in. How daft was I. How amazing is this Roman city. Who would have thought a pile of stones, an open space and the largest Roman relic in Britain plus a Roman villa would be so damn interesting. This is a must visit place. It’s great. The small visitor centre is interesting and the museum and relics are fantastic. I had a blast here. You will too.
The cashier was very friendly and chatty, the plaques are very intersting to read. The city itself is fascinating even in its ruined state. Well worth visiting for those interested in history.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great experience, in awe of Roman bath remains to think they are about two thousand years old.. Also enjoyed the museum of finds etc and reconstruction of Roman building over the road was excellent. Staff were very welcoming and helpful I really honestly enjoyed the whole visit.
Loved this place. Have visited before and it was equally brilliant the second time around. If you like your Roman sites, you will absolutely love this place. They have reconstructed a Roman Villa which is fascinating. Infographics are well presented and paint a vivid picture of Roman life in England. Highly recommended. Even better if you are an English Heritage because entry is free and 10% off shop purchases
Fascinating place, the fourth largest Roman city in Britain. Excellent museum displays including artefacts found on site. Hour and a half here but I'm a fast reader and we had lunch booked so I could've spent two hours here without the slight time constraint. It's English Heritage managed so free parking and entry with membership.
Part of the English Heritage group. Free entry with membership, otherwise £10 adult £9 concession. Very friendly staff and some in costume. You can walk around the ruins and the house. Take as long as you want. It isn't a massive place. Probably about 1 hour at a steady pace. Gift shop, museum, toilets and an ice cream van all on site. There was a Roman Weekend event when we visited. Mainly educational for kids. I was impressed how a member of staff approached hubby to inform him that this is a no smoking venue. Although we were outside, it was habit for him. The lady, was professional, discreet and polite. Hubby quickly apologised and stubbed out his ciggi. Chap at the till was very bubbly and informative. They also showcased tools and equipment used during Roman times. The guys were dressed up in Roman gear. A great place to visit highly recommended. Just 15mins away is the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site... So off we went. See my other reviews.
