Wow this place was simply beautiful. It’s so good to have these ancient buildings so close to home with the history they hold. Parking was fine and while this is an open site with an obvious private house on the grounds. It’s still a welcoming site to visit, I’ve been to some that aren’t. If you want to take the kids for a picnic and explore this is a great choice.
Extensive ruins of a monastery, with most of the walls and one of the small chapels still intact. Set in a pleasantly rolling green landscape, with cows in the field next door. A few of the original glazed tiles are still visible in the floor. Did have a small museum on site, unfortunately now closed. Free parking and free entry, just a few minutes off the A5.
A great spot for a stroll and a picnic. There is free parking for around 15 cars and free entry to the ruined Abbey. There is plenty of space to explore and some information boards to give some detail about the Abbey. Dogs are welcome too.
Definitely worth a visit. Free to access and near to Shrewsbury. The ruins are quite impressive and there is some good information on placards throughout. You won't need more than 30 minutes here to tour the site.
I really enjoyed visiting the Abbey - I arrived around sunset, on a beautiful day, and it absolutely lit the place up wonderfully. There's a lot here to see, and just as much to learn from numerous information boards. There's set of nice woodland walks alongside it too, if you'd like to spend more time enjoying the area.
Wonderful, atmospheric Abbey ruins. Good information boards. Great picnic site. Excellent visit for families - plenty of runabout room for children. Stunning location. Enjoyable visit.
It's lacking care and attention. Been a long time since this was cared for. All the signs are faded, some of them you can't even read. Lovely site though, some impressive features.
Nice abbey. Plenty left to see. Good walk opposite. Free entry, always a bonus. Lots of detail to be seen. Good use of billboards for information.
Enjoyed our time wandering around the ruins. Stopped off as part of my run through the trails. Would have been interested in the Museum part if it had been open.
Beautiful abbey ruins and it's free! Lovely walks around the area too, perfect for dogs and people
