Stayed overnight but didn’t use for food or drink. Lovely room, only negative was no robes supplied. Also there is no cooked breakfast option but a generous cold option is supplied in room.Service: 5/5
What a fantastic and charming old pub, a credit to the area and it's community. Martin, Mel, Lillie and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and look after you like family. Can't rate them highly enough, so much so that after planning to stay in the area for one night we decided to try and stay for three. Great choice of beers, absolutely gorgeous food and the pub itself is so grand and steeped in history, dating back hundreds of years. Even a great beer garden too, so what's not to love. Last but not least, the new addition to the family, young pup Stanley, what a little angel and guaranteed cuddles make you feel even more welcome.
Wonderful, old pub, full of history and next to a beautiful, old church. Landlady and staff very friendly, beautifully kept garden was a delight, particularly on the warm, late spring day we visited. Oh, and the beer was very good.Service: 5/5
What a fantastic pub! Giving four stars as all the hand pumps were off which was a pity but... staff were great and actually appeared to enjoy working here. The building is an absolute gem and the outside areas are nicely planted. The locals were friendly and there's happy hour 7 days a week from 5pm. On the downside we live 50 odd miles away or this would become my local.
Just had Sunday dinner here and it was idyllic. Beautiful venue, great staff and service. I went for the roast beef, thick sliced, tender, slightly pink....perfection:Food: 5/5
Lovely gem of a pub in a perfect location. Was looking for somewhere to eat for Sunday lunch last minute with family and came across this place. So glad we did. Such a lovely building steeped with history, was very cosy and traditional inside, complete with a fire. The staff were really lovely and welcoming, and even the locals were really friendly. And bonus that dogs are welcome. We all had a fantastic Sunday lunch. Probably one of the best Sunday lunches we've all had. The food was to a great standard, including for two vegetarians, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We're all planning to come back again soon and look forward to it. Will definitely be recommending to others too! Vegetarian options: Great options, all tasty
Went here a few weeks ago as we have been looking at pubs in the area to have a monthly meeting. Toilet was filthy complained about a dirty glass and was confronted by the owner called Mel who has to be the vilest rudest person on the planet. Left our drinks and went. Such a shame as the building is is wonderful and looks really inviting.
A lovely pub with really good food and a great atmosphere! There was also festive themed live entertainment provided by the very talented singer Chris Baker! A thoroughly enjoyable evening!Food: 5/5
Visited just for couple pints. What a nice old school inn. Great character lovely beer garden.Service: 5/5
Had a sunday roast here and it was ok, better than average. Pork belly roast came with really nice veg like cabbage and leeks. Very tasty. Potatoes were a bit dark. Things I didn't like were that the glasses were all a bit dirty. Also the dessert was disappointing. Nice but nothing better.
