Been twice on our trips to llfracombe... A lovely step back in time, well worth a visit. Dont expect to rush in and rush out off to your next destination...Thats not what this is about. Really has a sense of how, what used to be. Just relax and enjoy. Nice bit of fun for all members of the family.
Really interesting and pretty cheap to ride. This place does really look and feel like an old timey train station, the staff being dressed in period clothing only adds to this effect. While the train may not go very far and with only one other stop without a real station the experience is pretty short, but in my opinion worth the travel here and the cost to ride.
First time at this place. Absolutely fantastic and worth the visit. The food is brilliant which is homemade. Would visit again.
We visited for a Victorian style event and it was really good. The volunteers who run the railway do a great job. They were all very friendly and welcoming. Once you've paid the entrance fee you can have as many train rides as you want. The other station has a footpath down to Parracombe village. It's worth doing to see the beautiful old church on the outskirts of the village. The ride is short but scenic, you can see Wales on a clear day..it's worth trying 1st class for a £3 supplement, to see how the other half lived! They run special events throughout the year as well as a regular timetable. Check their website to make sure they are running on the day you're visiting as they arent open every day. The tea room had tasty cakes and sausage rolls. I'd ask them to leave the teabag in though as it was a bit weak! They are hoping to raise funds to extend the railway so please visit to help them do this. You'll have a great time too.
Lovely setting. Beautiful little steam railway mainly run by volunteers trying to preserve a bit of history. Definitely worth a visit. Pleasant tea room with delicious homemade cakes.
The Staff on the Railway was very polite and although the train ride was short its well worth it . The young man in the Cafe was very good at customer service it should have young persons in there to serve , as the first old lady who served us had no manners what so ever. We were going to give a good donation .
Although the train journey is short you can get off at the other end, enjoy a nice walk along the public footpaths and get the next train back to the station. The train is magnificently maintained steam engine. The station is also lovingly looked after with a pleasant cafe/tea rooms
Took our elderly parents yesterday very disappointed was only on the train for 10 minutes very overpriced Wouldn’t go again
Imagine if this reconnected Lynton and Barnstaple... what a huge tourist attraction for North Devon!
An amazing little railway in an idilic setting. Very friendly staff and the train, station & carriage are beautifully looked after.
