Today we went for High tea to celebrate my mum's birthday and I have to say it was excellent. We arrived about half an hour early and we were seated right away. The staff were very attentive, water brought and asked what drinks we would like. Informed the food would be able 15 minutes which we were pleased with as we arrived early. The food for 3 of us arrived on 2 cake stands and a tray. The hot food was lovely and the scotch eggs where huge and delicious A great selection of cakes and out coffee was replenished. Staff were attentive in asking if we needed anything, and boxing up what we were too full to finish. The dining room is lovely with tables well spaced out. Couldn't recommend the food here enough.
A great venue. We saw a Dolly Parton Tribute act in the 610 Squadron Bar. The act was superb and the room very spacious, set out with tables assigned to large groups. The staff were great but the only let down was some of the food. The triple-cooked chips were nice if you got plump ones but, sadly, half of the minuscule portion were so skinny that it was impossible to cut them or chew them. The choice of food was very limited.
We celebrated our Golden wedding anniversary in the function room recently and were delighted with how it went. The function room is lovely, with doors leading out to a very pretty garden area which our guests were able to enjoy, along with the outside entertainment provided by the hotel, which was very good and a bonus. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially Sarah who was always very happy to meet with us to discuss our requirements and was also on hand on the day of the event and did not rush us to leave at the end of the event. We were also offered drinks as we waited for our transport home and given a bottle of prosecco by a very kind lady as we were leaving. Thanks to everyone at The Woodcote for making our celebration so special.
We went on Sunday 4th August and the place itself is lovely. We had a few minor issues with food which were dealt with. The main thing that stood out was that two waitresses were extremely unprofessional with us and made the entire table uncomfortable. Upon arrival I went to the bar and ordered a drink, they had an argument in front of me and one stormed off. One said and she calls me unprofessional. When the other came back she said were you slagging me off? I awkwardly smiled and paid for my drink. When we were served they seemed to be in bad moods which we all picked up on and when asking who had which dish it was said abruptly. We felt awkward and uncomfortable and could hear every disagreement between them and could sense their bad moods/attitudes. Also upon speaking to the manager he said to my mother part of the reason service took longer than we expected etc was partially because we asked to be moved to a round table so we could all hear each other and because there wasn't enough seats we had the two children on their own table next to it. These tables weren't otherwise in use and we moved everything ourselves and thanked them. We were polite throughout despite the service so don't understand why there was such an atmosphere
Booked this hotel to visit my dad who leaves near, what an amazing hotel find, on arrival reception staff were welcoming and gave us directions to our accommodation which was little cottages at back of car park, room was great size and was clean with everything you need, we went across to bar beer garden where they have small beer hut bar tender was polite and chatty very well mannered, we had meal in evening and breakfast in morning food was great quality and delicious, fair price. We often use hotels for weekend breaks but this hotel has by far the best staff in all areas all happy to help and polite we will definitely be returning
Recently went here for a wedding, function room was overly small but staff were attaintive. Easily accessible if you're heading towards the Welsh road. Atmosphere was very homely and cosy, didn't book a room but the rooms looked like mini homes and looked fabulous! Food was fantastic drinks where fairly priced. Definitely going to come here for a social drink and food than a function
I booked a 'suite' for two adults and a child. On the day we were due to checkin, I received a polite call to ask if we were all sharing the double, as an extra bed was at additional cost. Several emails later and it transpires the website can't add in the cost of the extra bed, but this is covered in the T&C's. The £15 charge was no issue, but it could be clearer and better managed had the call had come on the day the room was booked, not on the day you are due to stay. The room was basic and a little dated but on the plus side, it was immaculately clean. Three overriding points. The pillows provided need to go in the bin, they were the most uncomfortable thing you could rest your head on this side of a brick wall. The shower had no middle ground, it was either ice cold or dangerously hot. Finally we ate in their 610 Squadron Restaurant and that was FANTASTIC, the food and the service were fabulous, so if you are staying there, the restaurant is well worth a visit.
We recently had Mums celebration of life here, to say I am disappointed with a number of things is an understatement. I have emailed the hotel with my issues and had a dismissive response and no follow-up to what was promised. The issues were we asked for a tab to be set up so any of our guest arriving before we did would not have to pay. This was not set up, we asked for the room to be warm it was on arrival and soon went cold. We asked for the television to be set up so we could display photos, it was not on arrival we had to request it. Having met with Sarah before the date and discussed our dietary needs as in the sandwiches which we wanted kept simple without relishes and the likes again this did not happen. As part of our choices from the buffet we chose desserts they did not appear again we had to ask, initially the staff said it was not one of our options, so we showed them the email with all the details on, by this time a lot of our guests had left. The staff did very quickly produce a plate of slap cakes cut up with a bit of icing sugar sprinkled over the top, not what I would call a selection of dessert. I emailed Sarah with my concerns and was promised a reimbursement for the desserts, I have since sent a follow-up email and had no response or reimbursement
Great place for eating after a trip to the Theatre in Liverpool, on the way home, or for a catch-up with friends. Friendly Staff. Welcoming atmosphere. Some great deals to be had from time to time. Food & drinks: All the meals I have eaten here have been beautifully cooked. The menu has a reasonable selection to choose from.
Staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Atmosphere was always buzzing. Very clean and tidy. Bedrooms were big but homely. Had a great stay. Would definitely stay again.Rooms: 5/5
