The best roast dinner I have had in ages!! Gutted I haven't been here sooner. Lovely pub, atmosphere and people. Rob served us and he was lovely, can't wait to come back and try the home made ice cream would highly recommend!
Great atmosphere and tasty homemade food. We ended at this pub by pure luck yesterday for a dinner in the middle of the week, and fell in love with such amazing traditional British cuisine. Roast available during the week, how awesome! Plus we were treated with care and it felt very family friendly, as we visited with our baby. Will definitely definitely come back. Portions and flavours were of another level. Thanks for such lovely meal!
Lovely setting. The pub is located in a beautiful setting with good parking options. The staff is cordial and helpful. We went for lunch on a Sunday and they were super busy, yet they were patient to take the order and answer our queries. The food tasted excellent and was piping hot. The portions of the roasts are more than enough for one person. There desserts looked yummy and I could not have one as i was filled up with the mains. Will go back for the desserts. In a nutshell, great place for a Sunday roast.
We visited for the first time with friends. Very warm welcome from the owner who explained food sourced locally and prepared on site by chefs. Superb selection and my friend and I selected Steak & Ale pie from the specials board & wives went for fish & chips. After great starters the mains were superb. The owner was attentive but not intrusive. We all had a great evening and will definitely be visiting again. A hidden gem !!! Kid-friendliness: High chairs available
We went for a late Sunday lunch with some friends and our children. Really nice selection of beers and ales. The Sunday roast were spectacular. Good old fashioned British desserts. Service was very friendly and homely. Would highly recommendFood: 5/5
Food tasted great. Special compliments to the sausages and mash. Only issue was that the spaghetti bolognaise was a bit overdone. Place has a lively atmosphere, great location, and is well-maintained. Good selection of beers and ciders on tap. Quite affordable too, at least for someone coming out of London. Would come again if I was in the area!
Popped in for a pint with work colleagues. A lovely range of beers and ales is available, bigger than most pubs range. Clearly a locals pub with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Only draw back is the car parking, tight would be generous. Would use again. Parking: Tight to find a space when a little busy.
Best pub in and around Epping Forest. Beer selection is exceptional, and food includes all the pub favourites as well as freshly made pizza and home made ice-cream. They particularly pride themselves on how well they keep their beer and they have won several national awards. Located in a brilliant part of the forest, lots of lovely walks in the immediate area and the pub is dog friendly too. Cannot recommend it more highly. Vegetarian options: Had a good vegan and vegetarian menu. Parking: There are about 20 spaces. But there is a public carpark across the road.
Had an excellent Sunday roast here for New Year's day. Plenty of vegan options including a hearty roast - complete with yorkshires! A very relaxed local vibe with lots of lovely dogs to admire. The gentleman who served us was both informative and friendly, very unusual to find such a good service these days! We will definitely be back when we're on our next forest walk. Vegetarian options: Huge range of vegan and vegetarian options.
We had a lovely home-cooked meal here. Proper comfort food and generous portions, with good cooking skills, tender and moist fish with the fish and chips and juicy sausages with plenty of gravy! Child friendly. Really handy from the motorway which is why we came, a better alternative to a service stationFood: 5/5
