We had our wedding reception here. It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. Staff were helpful, courteous and couldn’t do enough for me, my wife and our guests. It looked incredible and the rooms we book were stunningly decorated. The manager was kind and very helpful and honest with us about everything. The food was absolutely spot on and lovey. The surrounding areas are gorgeous with lots of opportunities for incredible photos and stuff for kids to play in the park that’s part of the venue. It was an amazing experience that was actually surprisingly affordable for an incredible spread of food and drinks with an absolutely amazing venue
Lovely setting and really nice looking bar and restaurant. Carvary is excellent value and really tasty. A variety of options depending if you just want a small meal or you want to go all out on a massive meal with extra meat and additional items. Irrespective of the size of your meal everything is competitively priced. As with all carvarys you get unlimited veg. The other bonus is they do not hike up the prices behind the bar. Had a great visit and will be returning
We arrived it took 5 Minutes to speak to Someone on register and there was only 1 person in front they messed up the price until we said. We went to get our carvery it was very good. Our pudding was a brownie with vanilla ice cream it arrived the brownie portion was ok but I got 1 small scoop of vanilla ice cream
Went for the breakfast buffet, which was really good. 4 stars, mostly because I can't really comment on customer service, as it was a 'help yourself' breakfast, but the staff that checked us in were lovely, friendly and welcoming. I'd also knock off half a star as the coffee wasn't great...but that is personal opinion, others may disagree with me there, but I found it a bit weak and like it bad been sat around for a while. Understandable, as it's made in advance and you just pour what you want as needed it's unlimited tea and coffee, but it just wasn't a great coffee for me, sadly.... However, the food was pretty good. I think it's basically what you'd expect from a carvery breakfast Buffett, fried eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread, hash browns, etc. It was all good food, we all had a couple of plates each and shared some toast with our little one, which she was very happy with. It's a beautiful building location, tucked away from the road, lovely building and overall very pretty outside, very cosy inside. We will definitely go again, will also be going for a proper carvery lunch soon too! Definitely recommend.
Disappointed! So I understand that things beyond their control meant a change to what they normally do however there was absolutely no communication. First was that they only could offer carvery but that was not mentioned on their website or on Facebook from what we where told is wasn't a last minute thing either and a small sign when you arrive you only find out when being seated!!! Secondly taking a booking for 6:30 for a large table but not telling us you are closing kitchen in 10 minutes and the whole place an hour later until we go to order. Thirdly car park was in total darkness not a good idea when the ground was uneven. Fourthly the place felt dirty and not particularly nice and what food was out didn't look particularly appetising. Overall I would say to avoid!!!!
Had a lovely carvery for lunch. Hadn't been here for a couple of years and was pleasantly surprised, as the place has had a good refresh inside. Staff very friendly also explaining different options.
5 star rating for the service at wolverton House.. Been eating there for best part of two years so will definitely continue to do so .. Also a huge mention to the valued member of staff.."Cherie..."who makes our visit to wolverton house every Sunday that little bit more special.. keep up the great work.. love from Margaret & Les xx
Whilst its clear the restaurant is extremely short staffed these days, the food is still delicious beef always melts in the mouth! and well worth the wait in my opinion - I'd rather pre-book Wolverton House and wait half hour in the queue for a Carvery than attempt to eat the so called 'roast dinner' at the Hungry Horse. The house is beautiful, the ladies loo's are incredibly inviting with their decor... and despite being rushed off their feet, the staff are friendly and willing to help if you are polite back to them. Perhaps communication when arriving that carvery waits are long would help, perhaps updating the website that carvery is only available & menu is limited at the moment would ease the moanings of other patrons. The only major grumble I had was that on our last visit the floors were stickier than normal but it made for amusing entertainment whilst waiting for the carvery. Kudos to the Chef last Sunday 6th Nov admitting there were only 3 of them and he was carving, sorting plates, cleaning the sides as well as serving with a smile!
I have to be honest and say I feel deeply for the staff and the amount of rude customers they get. Today was the first time I saw my little sister properly in years. The food was great, but the service was even better. We had plenty of opportunity to have a good laugh with the staff serving us and they were extremely pleasant to be around. Keep doing your best guys. I'm sorry that you have to deal with old farts that want the world handed to them on a plate, without consideration or compassion for hardworking human beings.
Honestly better than Toby Carvery. Never disappointed when I come here! Shout out to Chef Dale as well, always so welcoming!
