My wife & I visited the Civic for the first time, a straight forward short walk from the train station. Very much enjoyed the easy access, it’s very well laid out after what I read was a major return a few years ago. We sat in the circle for Jimmy Carr which gave a great view. I think where ever you sat you’d get a very decent view in fairness. The only slight disappointment for us was not being able to get water easily without having to join the long queue at the bar. This I think would be easily fixed with several stand alone water tanks and cups etc around the venue. This is the only reason for 4 stars as a lot of places provide this now. The staff inside were all very attentive so we’ll definitely look to book another show. Our mobile tickets through AXS which I also duplicated in the Halls app worked just fine.
we went to see that evenings second show of a Jimmy Carr stand up. Found free street parking near by as it was an evening event... very nice venue, bars were nice upstairs they had some yummy looking and smelling food too and quite spacious areas for waiting, at one point we were sent up to for more space when we got up we were soon sent down, so there was definitely a bit of mixed messages going on. toilets were good, messy from the crowd... what a messy crowd. we were let in for the second showing and the first group was leaving as we went in. cups everywhere, spilled drinks everywhere and getting worse as people knocked over drinks left laying around... i guess the first lot didn't have this kind of welcome. i would have given it a 5* probably. the seats aren't very spacious either, and the rows are quite close it had a bit of a Ryanair feel to it. but we had a good view of the stage. it is a good venue. the tickets too with another mandatory app... I'm not a fan, but it's one of those first words problems we can easily live with.
Watched a few gigs here. A good venue, staff have always been nice. I avoid purchasing drinks once I’m in, so can’t comment on their pricing or service in that respect. Parking is only over the road in the way of a paid for multi story but be prepared to queue for half an hour post gig to pay at the machine.
We actually travel from out of town to this venue, always has great shows on, that run according to plan and the times specified. I’ve been as a couple, with the kids and as a large group. Have actually had contact with the managers Beth and Demi as I had standing tickets but was injured and couldn’t stand. They were really supportive and enabled me to still be able to attend the event. I hate dirty toilets and can say that for the amount of people in this venue the toilets are in good condition. The staff both internal and external are really helpful and approachable. From the outside it looks like a great team to be part of, this is probably why it’s such a great place to visit. If you’ve not been, get on it. We’ve been to UB40, Jorja Smith, bongos bingo, making a murderer, Gary Barlow, George Micheal to name a few. Got tickets for future events already. Thanks to the team!!!
We absolutely love this venue and how it has shaped the best of memories. Staff always try their best to make your night an event.nYou do have to choose seats carefully as there are some definite blind spots. However we have perfected this but not going to tell you where!nRoger Daltrey, Paul Heaton, Levellers, Neds, Al Murray to name a few....we have loved them all!
