Beautiful and vast estate with modern decor, which kept that classy spirit. It gets difficult to navigate after a few drinks at the bar, but if you wonder outside at night, you'll be treated to some fantastic views. The food was fantastic, especially the breakfast and lunch buffets, rooms, whilst not the biggest, were cosy and the beds had fantastic mattresses that you don't want get up from. Didn't get to play golf, but hopefully will return as really enjoyed the stay.
Great staff fantastic place and before anyone says anything yes you do see a big manor house which is fantastically period in every way and grand but when you book you could land up in the golf part of the hotel instead just down before it. I have stayed in both and both ate as equally clean and comfy with everything you could want. I cant recomend this hotel enough its 5 stars as far as I'm concerned. I will keep coming back and andrew is fantastic and go the extra mile
Like this place. Room is clean and spacious and has walking ground. You can even cycle around or go golfing if you want. The only downside to Wokefield is its remoteness with no public transport or uber to the place. So you'll need to either drive down or get a black cab from Reading Station if you're not driving. Also, pack your own snacks if you're not ready to pay for such as above retail prices .
Fabulous hotel, with golf club, course, swimming pool 1.2 metres deep, a sauna and gym facilities. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was on the ground floor and very comfortable, although no air conditioning, but we were able to open the patio doors a touch. They do supply fans, but they don't do much. The bed double had a nice firm mattress. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board supplied, with a rail for hanging clothes but no drawers. Bathroom was very small but adequate. The breakfast was excellent, buffet style, from hot cooked to continental. If you require vegetarian sausages they will cook them for you, but ours were slightly overdone so we didn't bother asking for the rest of our stay! An amazing selection of fruit juices and I thoroughly recommend trying the lime juice. There is plenty to occupy you here, and a great little library if you just want to sit quietly and read. This will be a definite place we will return to and thank you to all of the staff, especially the housekeeper, whose name I did not get, but he was a delight and so thoughtful.
Very pleasant staff,a warm engaging welcome, clean rooms. "Played on the tough golf course, interesting and challenging". Breakfast each day was okay, evening menu in the standard " View" restaurant had a limited selection for a 3 day visit. However the restuarant in the Mansion House had a better menu and was very nice.
A great place for a lads weekend away if you fancy hitting & losing a few golf balls. The manor house is pleasantly nice in the sun kissed arena of the lovely green lawns, and the service is strong across the estate.
What a lovely place to stay! All the staff are cheerful and helpful. We had a deluxe room which was beautifully decorated with an immaculate bathroom. The view of the grounds from our window was a Vista of lawn and trees with geese. That said, it really is the staff that make a stay such a good experience, so a big thank you to you all. I hope to see you again soon.
Golf was great. Hotel absolute rubbish. Not the expected standard. Bar had no draft beers left and ran out of bottles before we arrived on the Friday and couldn’t get anything new before we left on Monday. Serving staff were great. Bar manager needs a good talking to! Restaurant supervision from Jamie was first class. We had 7 twin rooms booked for a 3 night stay. One was set up as a double, one had a broken shower that was never sorted and two had toilets that wouldn’t flush and were never sorted despite reporting in our first evening there. Would go back for the golf and the front of house staff but the management need sacking for poor, poor organisation.
Went for a festive afternoon tea as a Christmas present for my mother. Grounds are beautiful, especially with the frost. Staff were friendly and attentive. The tea itself was lovely and very filling. My mother has a allergy to nuts and they made her a special allergy friendly plate of sandwiches and cakes. All around wonderful visit.
A very nice hotel. We had a good view over the golf course. National Trust site near and some nice country pubs. It was a pleasant stay. The reception staff were excellent, really made us feel welcome.
