About

We are a registered charity dedicated to providing free legal advice to alleviate poverty and disadvantage. We cover Debt, Housing and Welfare Benefits.

Story

The Wiltshire Law Centre is a registered charity, established in 1981 and has provided free independent advice on a range of issues through the years. Currently we provide advice on Housing, Debt, Employment and Welfare Benefits

We are contracted to the Legal Aid Agency and also contracted under the Housing Possession Court Duty scheme.

We deal with a wide range of Housing issues for both Council and private tenants. Problems with housing associations, housing benefit queries and claims, repair issues with landlords, mortgage arrears and repossession are all dealt with by us.

We offer advice to clients on all aspects of debt including Council Tax arrears and dealing with Enforcement Officers, information on Bankruptcy and Debt Relief Orders if referred from Greensquare Housing.

Employment: we offer a Pro-bono advice clinic in the evenings by appointment – please phone for details.

We currently have 5 advisors who between them have over 50 years experience. They include a Senior Solicitor, skilled caseworkers and our newest recruit is our Trainee Solicitor.

We are actively fundraising to ensure the survival of Wiltshire Law Centre and the services it provides to the people of Swindon and Wiltshire.

If you would like to support our work by becoming a Trustee and joining our voluntary management committee, or by MAKING A DONATION, please call us on 01793 486926 or email us at [email protected]

They were very helpful with the problem I had.
I wrote a letter about my housing problems, and then some young man with a poor grasp of English language told me he didn't fink they could take my case as it might not get legal aid, and then didn't hear from them again. Sounds as if this so called free legal advice is just if they can get paid by legal aid. Sounds like just another charity where the main charity starts at home.
Excellent, professional service.
Highly rated very helpful
