My online shopping experience with Wild Swans was excellent. I asked for one of the items in my order to be gift-wrapped, which it was, wonderfully. I even received an email before dispatch asking if I wanted the other items wrapped too, which was very considerate. Everything arrived in lovely packaging and you could tell they put a lot of time and care into their orders. My order arrived very quickly and I am very happy to support a small business. I would definitely shop with them again!
I went to Wild Swans Islington yesterday and had a wonderful experience. The 2 ladies who helped me were attentive at the clothes I needed, very friendly and warm and were not pushy at me buying. The fashion is beautiful. i brought one item then decided to look more . There were some very nice bits on sale and I enjoyed the shopping experience there. I have recently moved to the area and I can say I most certainly will be visiting again. I wanted to Thank the two lovely ladies who helped me on Sunday 08/01/2023. Sorry i didn't get their names. Thank you Very Much.
I went into the shop yesterday, as I wanted to try on a coat that I saw in their online shop and was considering purchasing. First of all, the shop has now locked its doors and there is a sign telling you to knock. This started my shopping experience off on quite a strange tone. I was let in by one of the shop assistants, but I was not acknowledge by any of the other two shop assistants who were all huddled around the laptop. I was also the only shopper and the shop was obviously not busy, so I didn't see a reason why I was ignored. It would have been easy enough for the shop assistants to look up from their laptops. I found the coat and tried it on. One of the shop assistants, who I think might have been the manager, comes over and asks me what I think of the coat. I tell her that it fits much bigger that I expected. After I take off the coat and leave it on the display bed beside me to put my own coat back on, she immediately comes over and takes it away without saying a single word to me. She brings it with her to the laptop/counter area, and holds on to it and continues talking to the other shop assistants around the laptop. I didn't see a reason why she had to behave that way, especially since it would have made more sense to just put the coat back on the railings. I've made purchases before at the shop, and although I wouldn't say the experience has been incredible, this visit yesterday left me uncomfortable enough to write a review something which I rarely do. I felt like I was treated like a potential thief rather than a shopper. Having read the other reviews, it seems that my experience echoes those that others have had. This shopping experience left me feeling unwelcome and may I say even potentially racially profiled. Although the shop does have a really nice selection, there are enough independent shops in London that stock similar items and with equally great selections that I don't think I will be visiting this shop any time in the future despite living only a short walk away.
Was having a nice time browsing in the shop with my friend till we noticed they had pulled a barrier across the door as if to stop us running out or stealing? Beyond offensive and just a poor showing really. Over priced and after being portrayed as thieves for no reason I will not ever visit again. Do not go here unless you want to be judged a thief with no grounding.
I notice mixed reviews of this shop but this was my experience recently. There is a rope barrier as you walk into the shop which immediately gives the feeling of one not feeling all that welcome unless one is the “right” sort of shopper. Full of nice stuff but a distinctly unfriendly air from the manager who seemed irritated by my asking the price of the scented candles none of which were priced and which came in different sizes and boxed sets etc. The sales assistant however was friendly and did her best to answer but had to ask the manager and look on the system. I did buy a candle but would hesitate to go back until they can create a more welcoming atmosphere.
A confusing experience, Wild Swans carries brands and designers that I know my sister in law likes so when she and my brother visited this weekend I wanted to take her. We arrived with my husband and brother, all of us dressed casually it’s a Sunday but we’re in our mid-30s - not kids. Despite us cheerfully saying hello we weren’t acknowledged, it felt very frosty and feeling uncomfortable we didn’t stay long. It felt like a pretty woman moment! We’re all professionals with intention of making purchases today but it was so awkward we didn’t bother! Not sure if you’re expected to dress like you’re off the catwalk to be acknowledged here but pretty sad all the same for an independent boutique. My advice to the team here is eye contact and a hello is all it takes to make customers feel welcome - I’m sure you’d see an improvement in sales! Seems that other reviewers have experienced the same. Try Aria or Mainly Black up the road for interesting designers without the unpleasant environment.
Service is awful, I live 5 min from this shop and I have waited to write a review, because I thought it might just be a bad experience the one time. However I have now been to the store 3 times in the past 6 months and purchased items, which are beautiful. But the staff is snobby, rude and don't even acknowledge you come in. I don't know whether the staff is unhappy or they are just awful service providers. The reason we support smaller businesses is for the lovely staff and customer service, but honestly, I wouldn't bother going back and I would probably advise you to spend your money elsewhere, perhaps Toast is just a few shops up the road, absolutely lovely people. Such a shame!!
This is by far my favourite shop in London - not only because of the amazing selection of all my favourite brands, but also because I always feel welcome and more importantly I get an honest opinion and great advice when it comes to the outfits - I tend to always have a different image of how an outfit will suit me than what the mirror tells me, and the always friendly and lovely girls are great at giving me the best advice - and also letting me know whether I perhaps should try something else :- I also have to point out that it is the shop I have felt most comfortable in during Covid - a clean and safe environment allows us all to keep trying on clothes in the shop. It is always a real pleasure and I always spend far too much time and money when going!
Never have I been so moved to write a public review about service in a shop. I was completely ignored as I walked in, the staff barely even looked up from their laptops. The stock is beautiful so i was carrying a lot of expensive items that I wanted to try on, to the point that my arms were so heavy I was struggling to hold them and things were falling, and not once did anyone offer to take them into the dressing gown or assist in any way. I exited the dressing room to ask if the staff could suggest a pair of trousers I could try on with some of the tops I had selected to try, and the staff member barely looked up and instead in a very low energy, almost annoyed voice, said, take any you want from the shop floor, when i was specifically looking for a suggestion. I then proceeded to spend time struggling to look for trousers in my size, of which there were very few until i finally tried some. Even as I tried things on, the staff did not attempt to comment or suggest anything to try with them or suggest an alternative item if the fit wasn't great etc etc, which is the kind of service I expect from a shop stocking premium items. The shop was not busy in any way, i was the only person in there and felt very uncomfortable the entire time.
I bought a pair of sunglasses from here over the summer; in retrospect I wish I hadn't as I've never been more poorly treated in a shop, nor have ever had to deal with such a ridiculous returns policy. The sales assistant barked 'Madame' at me which I didn't realise was to me, so ignored her until she was right behind me and then rudely took me to the front of the shop to put on the gloves they require you to wear because of Covid. Covid measures fine, treatment unacceptable. She proceeded to treat my partner and I with distain, until I made my way to the till. As soon as she realised I was going to buy something her demeanour completely changed. I don't think I have ever had worse customer service, nor been prejudiced against in such a way, as to only be deserving of common human decency when becoming a paying customer. She didn't treat other's in the shop in such a way; I wish I had gotten her name as I want to write a direct complaint to management over her poor treatment. The returns policy at the shop is also absurd. When I returned the sunglasses a week later there is a 14 day return policy I was only entitled to a gift card under their policy - which having googled it, is against the law.
