Every time I call them they say my postcode doesn’t match the address even though it’s correct on my bill and they can’t help, you can tell they are getting peeved because I’m insistent on getting an answer to my question and not getting fobbed off! The excuse is the system has the wrong postcodes in well we pay enough council tax……..get the system sorted instead of wasting it on half baked idea

Wigan Council are totally in denial. Whoever runs / manages the departments should be embarrassed. These reviews speak for themselves. Totally incompetent. They create their own delays by not reading emails properly then try to blame it on the customer. I've submitted everything they asked for twice & get a poorly worded letter back a month later asking for the files again. Despite both files being acknowledged on 2 different dates. Whoever runs this particular Customer Service team - shame on you. All your staff need retraining to a much higher standard! I've tried both methods ie phone calls & email & all are bad & send you generic copy/ pasted replies. You shouldn't have to badger them as they should employ efficient people who communicate well & actually want to resolve your query & help. Im sure the staff get a kick out of being awkward & prefer you to just complain so they can pass the buck. The last one was clearly working from home & had me on loud speaker, her dog was barking in the background & I could hear the TV as she made a rubbish attempt to find out what mistake THEY made . She wasn't concentrating. Worst council I've had the misfortune of dealing with & I've never been in the Life Centre as this sounds like absolute hell too . As for bin day. Why send the bin men onto estates & main roads at peak time ie 8-9am when workers & parents are leaving for the office or school run & traffics bad. Zero common sense & they employ the worst drivers . As a kid they came at 6 or 7am bk in the day . Always blame funding or employees. Read your reviews, acknowledge that you are the issue & take action. I wont hold my breath as you never admit you're at fault.
I have been on the phone line waiting for almost hour then telling me to leave the messages???? Just wasted my time!!!
Someone from the council called me. My phone went straight to voicemail. Their number was withheld. Impossible to call them back. I have never tried to communicate with such an incompetent organisation. After a period of forty minutes of being repeatedly informed that my call was important to them, being told how I could use their website, that I was in a queue, I was invited to press '1' for an agent to ring me back. This actually happened some 10 minutes later when 'Susan' rang me back. She seemed incapable of understanding the problem or the concept that if their call went straight to voicemail the first time, it was likely to happen again. She appeared reluctant to help but eventually said she would speak to her supervisor. Another long wait ended with the the statement, 'We think we have found the person you need to speak to, would you like me to put you through.' Upon replying 'yes' the line was cut. They are discourteous and totally inefficient.
Don't bother having a registry office wedding with Wigan Council. We were supposed to receive a ceremony list to complete shortly after our notice of marriage was passed. We had to contact them as they never sent it out. When we received it it stated our outstanding balance for our ceremony needed to be paid in the next few days. We tried to do this online but our ceremony booking wasn't listed. I had to take a day off to pay in person as the Registry Team said I couldn't do this over the phone and they ignored my request to ask if the technical issue could be resolved so I could pay online. I asked if the issue could be escalated as it wasn't being answered by the advisor. Nothing was done. I asked for a reply from the technical team. Nothing was received. No apology. When I visited in person to pay the balance the advisor assured me our booking was confirmed. I asked about the online issue being escalated and was told that sometimes the system doesn't show information. I asked if it was being actioned and was told the same information again. I explained that I would appreciate the issue being looked at as other customers might not be able to pay for services online. The advisor ignored what I said and just repeated that our booking was confirmed. I felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall. No apology. No ownership. I then had to return to your offices that day as I forgot to order copy certificates. I was not asked by the advisor at the time of paying for our ceremony if I wanted any copy certificates. Every week up until the ceremony I was emailing the Registry Team asking various questions ranging from music to parking enquiries. It was only two days before our wedding that a document was sent with a reply which detailed all the answers to the questions I had been asking for weeks. I'd spoken to multiple advisors and not one of them at any time thought it would be a good idea to send me this information! On the day of the ceremony the groom could not gain access to the registry office as the doors were locked and no-one came to open up when he was knocking. We were told the wedding car could park outside the registry office as long as it looked like a wedding car. When it arrived our driver was told by staff that he shouldn't park there has he could get a ticket regardless of it being our wedding car. The registrar completely messed up our music as she couldn't operate the cd player, including the bride's entrance. My husband asked for it to be restarted but the registrar ignored him. All the time the gentleman standing with me was ushering me to walk with me explaining to him THREE times that I couldn't hear the music and something wasn't right. When I got to the altar we were both stressed before it had even begun. I asked the registrar for our copy certificates and she said that they would be posted to us after the ceremony. This is not what is stated on your ceremony list you send to couples. It stated that these would be given to me on the day of our ceremony if ordered in advance. The staff couldn't even open the doors to let guests out after our ceremony and one of our guests had to do it for them. The only contact I received from Wigan Council was an email about paying the outstanding balance. Nothing else at all about our ceremony. And to top it all off our name was misspelt on the envelope of our copy certificates. Our special day was completely messed up by you, when you only had to do what you were supposed to be good at! Not one person has apologised for any of the issues caused by you. We completed your feedback survey email and got no reply. We emailed our complaint and received a reply saying you got lots of good feedback and compliments saying how good you are - total lack of acknowledgement that we had a poor experience from start to finish. So seeing as we had such a poor experience, we felt it apt to post this to ensure that no-one else chooses to have their ceremony with you to save them the stress and frustration we experienced on our wedding day.
Unbelievable people I am a LAC, and been abused by multiple people within my placement and the wigan council are very aware of this, they are very careless and are knowingly keeping me in this placement which is very dangerous and forcing me into very uncomfortable circumstances. This is by far the worst treatment and disregard I have ever seen for any living human being, what they are doing is shameful and pitiless. They have taken away my human rights and are letting staff at my placement abuse me repeatedly.

Wigan council, take some control and responsibility for your workers. Come out to properties being fully disrespectful and inconsiderate to tenants already on premesis. Yes you provide a valuable service but don't have to act like animals about it. All of your property maintainers, painters, electricians plumbers act like people should live around them working and not vice versa. Have some decency for people already on property and quit being rubbish humans.
Very lazy council service. I made a complaint that my bins have not been emptied, this is not the first time nor will it be the last, my response from Wigan Council.. Please leave your bins out on the correct selected days, so without an investigation or acknowledgement of the persistent problem from the lazy council workers, they decide to pass the buck. Back to me. Great customer service Great peoples skills. NOT!!
