Whitley Bay Cemetery / Crematorium

I wanted to say a massive ‘thank you’ to the man who is the gardener at the cemetery on Wednesday 27th July. He was just finishing work and I stopped him to show him a photo which was taken a few years ago of my family grave which holds my family members. I couldn’t find it at all and as I live in Lytham in Lancashire I do not come on a regular basis and as most families move away I have no relatives now in the area. I showed him the photograph and said do you know where it could be as I had forgotten. He so very kindly looked at the photo and said it is over there and took me. Sadly the headstone has had to be taken down as years of wear and the weather. I think he could see I was so very upset so asked me if I was all right and I said I was so he left. I did not get his name but wanted to say huge thank you he was going home and did not need to help but he did. You helped a very grateful lady. The grounds are so lovely and peaceful. Peaceful, quiet and well maintained with a tea room just inside the entrance.

It was sad to see that older plots have not been cared for.. I had a hard time finding the plots of my great grandparents as there is no marker. There is a lovely place for loved ones ashes, but again, no markers to say where or if anyone is there. Very sad.

Lovely crematorium very tidy and clean has rest rooms and accessible for wheelchair or cars

Large with free parking, had a garden section to top right hand side.

Impressive free masonry turn out for Bob's funeral. .
