Picturesque harbour and a nice walk around the quayside. Town itself is a bit run down, although plenty of car parks in derelict building sites. Some nice cafes/bars at the waterfront. Car parking is relatively cheap.
Warning no Uber taxis ,Book a private hire before you get off ones train ... Lovely staff friendly people .
Ticket office was closed due to a technical issue. Ticket machines do not accept cash. My partner checked the train times and also noticed the price was £1.80. Price on the train to pay was £5.30. The train was virtually empty. How many elderly people, people without smartphones and people who aren't technically able are being ripped off?
Adorable. Been using this service since the 80s when I was a wee lad and have always loved it. It's a very basic Station but I don't care, it brings back fond memories. It's a good station for getting around to other Cumbria Locations, including Carlisle. The location of the Station is also really excellent, right by the sea. Such a cool place.
The station's terminal building is closed after 17.30. People are left freezing at -2oC until their train arrives. Totally unacceptable.
