Fantastic afternoon here, great walk around the reservoir, then into this lovely country pub to a really warm greeting from the very attentive staff. Food and ale was brilliant at a very reasonable price. What's not to love.
First time at the Whitehouse for at least 25 years and the place hasn’t changed one bit … in a good way. Arrived at 545 on a Saturday afternoon you can’t book unless larger table over 5 but went early it was rammed already which is a good sign . Food gammon eggs very tasty lady had steak strips in a spicy sauce all enjoyed very much two pints of cider and two large red wines £52 all comparable to the other. Saddleworth must go to the Church Inn … is it as good no but food still very good young servers wonderful chatty and friendly ruled with a iron rod by a surly older lady. Enjoyable will go again Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available
Wonderful food and service as always. Thank you for our experience of our delayed Golden wedding and all birthday celebrations from the past 18mths. We were able to celebrate with all our northern contingent.
Poped in for a drink on a Sunday. Such amazing views and great service considering how busy it was. Can't wait to return to try for food. Only small negative is parking is limited however to be expected given the location and amout of people. Parking: Very tight when busy
Well what an experience location beautiful atmosphere inviting I ordered steak kidney pie the wife beef Sunday dinner, meat was very tender in the pie, generously filled Sunday dinner delicious my desert was rocky robin cheesecake wife black forest gateau again very tasty well presented not just thrown into dish the White House prides itself on its service and boy so it should highly recommend paying it a visit it's a right little gem
Popped in for lunch after a long walk on a Sunday afternoon. They were very busy but advised that we would be seated in 15-20 minutes. We were actually seated in less than 5 at a nice table beside the fire which was a lovely spot to warm up after our walk. There were loads of staff front of house and I could see plenty of staff in the kitchen too. All of the staff we spoke to were friendly and professional. There were a lot of younger staff who had clearly all been well trained and they were all very skilled and personable. We ordered the gammon and the cheese and onion pie from the specials board. The food arrived with very little wait, and both dishes were perfectly cooked and very tasty with very generous portions. Really a great visit and we’ll definitely call in again if we are in the area. Vegetarian options: There were 4 vegetarian options on the menu and specials board, all of which sounded good and more than just a token offering.
Great time great food and great service by friendly staff. A good variety of food and drink at the summit. The menu is very good to choose from but before placing the order saw the day special menus and choose one of the meals from it crab Thermador and it was a good choice. The dish sizes are designed for Lancashire abilities and if you are not from Lancashire or Yorkshire don't think you can finish it. But if there for a walk you need it. The weather at the top the cool wind and walking and climbing make appreciate the heavy dishes and maybe finish it with very nice fruit pie and caster or ice cream
Brilliant place. Food excellent and they make sure u don't go hungry, massive portions of tasty nicely cooked food. My favourite place to eat. Great views and walks. Staff are amazing can't do enough for you but don't hover round or interrupt your meal. Always busy which goes to show how fantastic it is. Lovely inside and immaculately clean. Can't praise this place enough. Was out walking and saw the pub and thought we would go in for a drink.saw the food they were serving and couldn't resist having a meal. So glad we found this place. We have been a few times now and fully intend going again. Thank u so much to the staff and compliments to the chef x
Myself and 5 year old went for a walk over to Blackstone Edge followed by lunch here before getting back in car. The staff are brilliant so friendly and gave my daughter time to tell them about her adventures, they gave the impression they had all the time in the world for her despite them having a full pub. We weren't interrupted when we were eating like you get elsewhere and they gave us plenty of time daughter is a very slow eater before asking if we had finished. The food was exactly what you want after a walk. Good variety on menu and quality superb. Highly recommended and it may have been our first visit but we are already planning our next one. Thankyou for doing everything perfectly. Kid-friendliness: Staff were brilliant with my child and even commented how well behaved she was. They listened to here and the children's menu is good. Parking: Plenty of parking
A really nice pub with exceptional customer service and food. From the moment we arrived, the staff were extremely welcoming. We were sat down and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was outstanding! Extremely tasty and you'd struggle to find somewhere similar that offers a quality steak like this place! 100% worth the visit and would recommend anyone to try here! 10/10 always.
