Nice decor but the food was not good. Small portions and poorly cooked. We selected the beef roast dinner which should be straight forward, but not this Sunday. Burnt roast potatoes, tough, under cooked beef and strange veg. We were a party of 12, the place was half full to say the service was slack is an under statement. We were asked if we would like sauces, yes! we never got them. The only plus for me was the IPA ale, was very good. We all said we would never go there again. It only got 2 stars because of the beer.

A very modern bar with a pretty decent restaurant and some boutique hotel accommodation. I can speak for the rooms. But the bar is cool, the beer and wine decent and the food spot on. Restaurant service leaves a bit to be desired on occasion (it's hit & miss, sometimes great, sometimes not) but overall this place is doing most things very well.

Dropped in with my wife our two young sons. Immediately upon entering there was a really pleasant atmosphere. The staff were extremely professional, polite and attentive , we were made to feel really welcome and cared for as soon as we entered,
Our food came really quickly and was brilliantly presented . It tasted every bit as good as it looked. It took us almost an hour to reach the Wheatsheaf , it was worth the journey. The setting , staff and food are all impeccable, they should be very proud of what they have achieved in such a short time.......
Called in for a second on a trip across country. Last time we were there was several months ago. Once again all staff were lovely , very polite and helpful to our family. They offer a great selection of food and drink options. They even made a non menu item for one of my children who is a very fussy eater, There is a strong regard for customer service and the place itself is warm friendly and great value. Having read some of the reviews I wonder if some people are a little too difficult to please whatever the circumstances ?

Upmarket gastro pub with rooms. On trend crowd, great surroundings and atmosphere. Good locally sourced menu, not cheap, but definitely looks like youre getting good quality and decent portions. Leans towards fine dining but without the snobbery. Great for couples or adult groups. Would probably steer clear of the place with kids, certainly in the evening.

Popped in for a quick drink and desperately wanted to rate higher as the owners have done a great job renovating the building, but ales were poor and the place generally lacked atmosphere. Staff were reasonably attentive but we sat next to a table full of food debris all the time we were there (tidied up just as we left) and pub wasn't that busy. Hopefully it will be better next time we venture in. Should look to the Old Hall down the road for a few tips on how to improve things.
