Great place to stay friendly staff and amenities ideal for touring Cornwall

We have taken our holiday at Wheal Rose Campsite for 4 years. Staff are so friendly and helpful. All pitches are level so if you have a caravan like us, there is hardly any levelling that is required. The campsite has a swimming pool which is heated. There is a small games room which has a dart board, tv and a pool table. There is also a table tennis table which is situated outside on a grass area. In the far end of the campsite there is a playground where all children go, especially in the evenings to have fun with their newly made friends. The site also has toilet and shower block, laundry room, facilities to dispose of chemical waste, electric hitch up and some hard standing pitches. 3 static caravans are also available to hire. In the reception there is also a small shop where you can buy the essentials, a small hot drinks machine. Local information is also available. The campsite is about a 5 minute drive away from the nearest beach at Porthtowan, with other beaches within easy reach. The historic tramway from Portreath to Devoran runs alongside the campsite. You can either walk or cycle this route, with the old engine houses along the route which v can be visited. As it is quite a central base, all attractions are within easy access. We have never been disappointed holidaying at Wheal Rose and love it, the area and the staff and have already booked for next year!

Camp site is well located but thats it. Facilities are adequate but very unlooked after amd feel very tired and dirty. Theres also not very many...only 3 showers per gender for the entire site and a similar amount of toilets. Half the pitches border way too close onto the road in, pitches are so packed in it borders on illegal for fire regs. Nearby dog farm is very noisy at all times. Campsite also charges you if you want to have a visitor walk on and see you. TLDR - Campsite is alright to stay on but facilities are very poor compared to other sites.

Pleasant site but nearby main road is audible along with dog kennels just across the field where the dogs enthusiastically barked frequently. Ground hard with scalpings just below the grass (first place I've ever had to use a mallet for pegs) which made pitching our tent a challenge. Wash facilities are okay but a brush, mop and other items to allow patrons to tidy after themselves would help, and a little more TLC and more regular checking would go a long way. The shower cubicles are quite small with awkward doors but that's just the style. They were certainly hot! Our site had rubbish left on it round the edges and there were a few bits and pieces like cones and things about the place for no obvious reason. Lighting was a bit poor around the amenities and I can see someone tripping on the step or raised slope to the small family bathroom. That said, good location, good price and a nice little play park, not huge but enough for the kids to gather and play. Clearly lots of families visit regularly and know each other and they were welcoming enough. For an altogether more joyous experience we preferred Trewan Hall near Newquay.

A great site. lots of room for pitching up caravan and awning. Very quiet and peaceful with plenty of birdsong.
