Under new management now, so ignore all menus and comments based on food before 2023... Costs are higher and less choice on menu. I have been unable to get Google to delete Wetherspoons from pub title even though web link now showing no details as pub no longer in chain. Wetherspoons decided to close this pub from Sunday 18/12/2022. Newspaper coverage said staff will relocate to other pubs. Enjoyed many meals, coffees, and infrequent 'double' too until end 2022.
Nice pub with more of a 'local' feel than most Wetherspoons. Expect to see racing on the television and betting slips being passed around. I wouldn't say it is handy to pop into after shopping at the nearby Bootle strand as no-body shops there anymore but this Wetherspoon is busy at all hours of the day with pints of mild and Guinness seeming to be the 8am beverage of choice here. Food is expertly heated up by Chef Mike's personal team of professional pingers. Personally I prefer a different vibe but it is comfortable and friendly. I find that the staff are very nice and welcoming here.

Lovely Breakfast, Fast Service, Lowest Price of Modt Weatherspoons I have been to but The Highest Quality. 1 Item was missed off my plate Mushroom but staff rectified the issue and were apologetic. Very quick to Fix. Great Service. All staff very friendly and chatty great way to start the day. Not to mention the Refillable Coffee does not go A miss especially when its a self service machine. It might only be a Spoons but its Highly Recommended
Not one to give a bad review but it was vile. Bacon wasnt cooked. The black pudding was like hockey pucks and the eggs were over done. Coffee was nice though
What a cultural journey. I came here to have breakfast, which was very good - as usual in Weathersspoon's pubs. While I finished some older British lads managed to finish two pints of beer, and i was not even 9:30 AM. I used the app to order food. Food arrived quickly and staff was friendly.
Fab entertainment on a friday. The bar maids are lovely.
DO NOT EAT HERE! We came here because the pub next door was not serving food and let me tell you, I will not ever eat here again. I ordered the large fry up and what I received was a plate full of grease with some breakfast items. I tried to eat as much as I could but the mushroom literally had a puddle of oil in it so could not eat it. Had to leave over half the breakfast so left feeling hungry still. Very disappointed. The drinks were just as bad, the Coke was very syrupy and sweet and the hot chocolate was water with a hint of chocolate. Please do not waste your money in here.
Took my elderly mother there after shopping at the strand for lunch. Got us both a drink and sat down. Our table had food on so I moved it and tried to wipe with a tissue but it was so sticky and dirty. A lady was collecting glasses so I asked if she could get me a cloth to clean it. She went to get one then came back and said one of the bar staff would be over but they never arrived. We finished our drinks and left. We had no food and was very disappointed with my visit and won’t be returning.
Chef really shouldn't be seen going outside to by the doors! And should take more pride in appearance if not why would they take pride with your food!
