Fabulous little hidden gem. Lovely rooms and friendly professional staff. Made our whole stay a fantastic experience easy to check in and book dinner. Meals were delicious and the cocktails were amazing. Margo was so friendly and accommodating she made us feel so welcome. Great little hotel fantastic restaurant and brilliant team would reccomend to any to try the West Port you won't be disappointed. Rooms: Clean and tidy well maintained Nearby activities: Nightlife, pubs, restaurants and parks Food & drinks: Great local and seasonal menu reasonably priced and expertly prepared Kid-friendliness: Children welcome for meals and colouring sheets and crayons provided by staff. Parking: Right at pub Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheel chair acess to restaurant
A fantastic stay Excellent meal on Friday evening, best steak I've had in a while. Great value for money, well worth a visit Room clean and comfortable Breakfast was amazing, didn't eat till 8 in the evening Friendly staff, we'll definitely be back Lovely walk around the loch. Lovely town.Train into Edinburgh
Finally using a voucher we bought last year and we weren't sure what to expect. However, it has to be said, we were pleasantly surprised! The room was spacious with a nesspresso machine and plenty of coffee and snacks. Nice view and brand new seeming, if slightly tight, bathroom. The room was good but still needs a little updating with the carpet and some walls needing attention but this didn't take away from our overall enjoyment. The staff were great, making us welcome from the first to last minute of our visit. The included two courses were very tasty with the lamb main being the highlight! Would recommend especially as it is clear they are trying to revamp the place, a new carpet being laid in hallways etc. We hope to be back soon
Great Sunday lunch. Poor service. Female Staff seemed to want to just walk by and not ask how everything is or ask can I get you anything else. One of the female staff especially was not interested at all. This is very disappointing as I have found the West Port a pleasant and welcoming hotel for food and drink. Service needs to improve. Walkability: Access is good and good Access to disabled toilet is fine. Food & drinks: Very tasty meal. More choice and specials on a Sunday would be good. Parking: Parking is good. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessibility good
Been here lots of times before and always happy previously. The curry was a small dish of sauce with some chopped chicken loaded on. Served with rice and small nan bread and some other sides. Not enough curry too many sides. We've had curry here before and enjoyed it but this was disappointing to say the least. Gammon was cooked ok but served tepid. Sorry but very disappointed in new menu and don't know if your chef is maybe new too? I know costs for hospitality are high but would rather have paid more and eaten from old menu. Shame Vegetarian options: Would have liked the option of true veggie food but only burger available was a plant based, basically soya burger
The service here has been great. Never a problem, quick and very friendly service. Food is reliably good, it's clean and tables regularly available without booking. Special mention for the excellent service for the new lady working there who was amazing drummer girl. Will certainly be back. Vegetarian options: Separate menu for Vegan and gluten free. Not outlandish like other eateries. Very tasty.
Popped in for food on Saturday evening and as a first timer was well impressed with the friendliness and service provided by Jade and colleagues. I opted for the steak pie, which was delicious; compliments to the chef. I stupidly left my coat behind and was a little concerned, once I realised, ad my house keys were in one of the pockets. Fortunately, the friends I was with, later saw the staff in the adjoining nightclub and my coat was returned. Many thanks again. Although I live in Edinburgh, I think I could become a regular visitor.
Didn't stay in the rooms, so just put 4 stars as the rest of the place is very good. The rear carpark was flooded after the rainfall. The food was excellent and the staff were very good, efficient and friendly. Would definitely return. Competitively priced.Food: 5/5
Visited for lunch on a Tuesday after a trip to Muiravonside park with our grand-daughter. The food was of a high standard and there was a good choice from the lunchtime menu. The children's menu allowed you to choose your own main and vegetables to go with it which is a great idea. Small choice of sweets - we all chose chocolate brownie whic i can say is the best i have ever had The prices were fantastic and we shall certainly return.
Margo and Kimberly were very friendly and welcoming. Food was awesome and decent price. Atmosphere is very relaxing
