Stunning gardens, especially in the walled gardens and glasshouses. Deliberately went on a wet day to avoid crowds and the gardens were still bright and beautiful. Very well planted out with fantastic structure and colour- plenty of flowers, even in Autumn which so many gardens miss. Will definitely be back to explore further.
Just an incredibly beautiful place, much more than I expected. As if I got into a fantasy movie. A long arch wrapped in grapes and wisteria, the College, beautiful views, sheep grazing in endless fields, wonderful gardens I want to come back again and again to this magical place. And it is very nice that children enter for free.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Beautiful day !! I went late October, still few interesting flowers and trees so see but I guess not much in Winter but still nice to walk around. I will go back in Spring time
Good place for ramblings and long walks. Map should have been provided as we were unaware where we were around the grounds. OK of you were close by, but the woodland walk could have had a bit more guidance. Tea and cake were nice. Will visit again.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
1st ever visit today and loved it. Different to other gardens. The Victorian greenhouses are very interesting and full of different plants. The 100m pergola was packed with plants growing up it and loved the gardens by the pond and the little bridges. The long parkland walk was worth the long gradual climb as the Rhododendrons at the top were spectacular and do many of them and nor another soul about. Definitely recommend a visit.
What a fantastic day we had ,on our holidays in west Sussex absolutely beautiful gardens and woodland walks lovely stream running through the gardens, very colourful and varied. It is one of the very best gardens we have visited. Cafe wonderful homemade fresh food and not all the usual fayre, friendly and welcoming staff .Well done to all
This is not just one garden but a whole series of different spaces and gardens that could keep you busy all day. The obvious show stopper is the walled garden with the immaculate glass houses and hot boarder. Second stop is the dramatic pergola but for me hidden down a path past the orangery was a beautiful gravel garden next to a free flowing stream crossed by small bridges. Had we not had a heatwave I would have loved to complete the perimeter walk and look forward to returning when it’s cooler! I do agree with other reviews that a paper map is essential as trying to see any map on a phone is impossible with poor eyesight.
This is one of the most beautiful gardens to visit in the British Isles, and is spectacular in all seasons although my favourites are spring and summer. The Victorian glasshouses, walled kitchen gardens and Edwardian pergola designed by Harold Peto are particular highlights, but there is so much to explore. Absolutely necessary to visit on a sunny day if you’re anywhere near. I can’t wait to visit again!
Many years since my last visit. And since I loved last time, my expectations were sky high. And yet it still impressed and inspired me greatly! The pergola/arch is magnificent and brought me to tears!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This garden is more than incredible! An outstanding walled garden starts your visit and then it's off to the pergola with 100 meters of vines in glorious bloom in the spring and summer. Be sure to make it all the way down past the college to the spring garden and streamside plantings. They're so inspiring!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
