My Father moved to in to Wayside in October 2024 after being diagnosed with Dementia over a year ago and moving here from another care home. I cannot rate Wayside highly enough. I live away and feel so reassured with the care he now receives there. The team are exceptional, thorough and extremely kind. I have been so impressed with the nursing care and clinical care he receives from the team, they are extremely diligent, keep me regularly informed and this is matched by their kindness and patience. With my Dad there I also feel very much part of a community with the team, the residents and the other relatives with loved ones at Wayside which is really nice. The team from management, to nursing, to care, the kitchen and domestic are all fantastic and I cannot thank them enough for all they do.
After many years of happy independent living my mum became unable to continue on her own for fear of falling a problem she had experienced several times nShe moved into the tender care of Wayside and has never looked back.nShe’s been resident there for around 18 months now and could not be happier.nShe enjoys good health both mentally but just can’t walk far any more.nShe speaks her mind and can be very critical if things don’t go her way but really enjoys Wayside Care Home where the staff are incredibly kind and helpful.nIt’s not the prettiest place and needs a little money spending on the decor which the owners are aware of but the level of care is what really matters.
My poor dad has dementia and can be quite agitated and aggressive at times and the staff were struggling to care for him so rather than The Manager be upfront and inform our family that they were unable to care for him they waited until he had slid off his chair and onto the floor and called an ambulance because they claimed he was complaining of a painful back after ‘a fall’!! but as soon as he was inside the ambulance, they informed a family member who had co incidentally decided to visit my dad of their decision to not allow him back into the home. Unfortunately, they didn’t think to inform the hospital where the ambulance crew had taken him to of their decision of not allowing him back into the home, so after he was checked over from his slip off the chair /fall!!,and given the all-clear, the hospital discharged him and sent him via ambulance back to Wayside, whereby he was denied access and turned away late at night. My dad is confused enough with dementia, let alone this happening to him. Very unprofessional care home and I will be making a formal complaint regarding this matter. He was also sedated for the 3 weeks he was staying at this dreadful place which was their solution to ‘keep him quiet’ - He is currently still in hospital whilst a more professional care home can be found for him and he is alert and able to converse with us as opposed to being doped up to his eyeballs. Would not have awarded 1 star for this review as in my opinion they are not worthy but was unable to leave 0 stars! I would not recommend this home to care for your loved ones at all!
After a very traumatic experience at a different home we finally found the perfect nursing home for mom. My partner was in care for over 30 years and she loves this home. Clean, tidy, friendly staff, five star food and professional nurses. They stay on top of everything and keep us updated on any issues or concerns. Weather it’s you mom or dad this home is perfect. Thank you!
My grandfather was in this home unfortunately, thank god hes moved , i wouldn't leave my cat here, the level of care was abysmal, catheter bags emptied in the sink, and when confronted about the terrible level of care they isolated my grandad wouldn't allow visitors. Mentalntorture to a man who had done nothing wrong, please avoid, anyone who cares about a loved one, don't leave them here unless you want them to ride out their days in misery, if you do you're complicit
