Always a great place to buy books as they have a large range of genres spread out over 4 floors. I love the cafe on the 1st floor which is great to have a coffee while enjoying a good book or just relaxing. Be warned there’s limited seating in busy times
Came in, looking for some good horror books since October is coming. Wasn't sure what I was after, but a wonderful human called Meg asked if I needed any help and was not only delightful to interact with, but went above and beyond recommending various titles - she was so lovely, and so accommodating and I absolutely adore a fellow book lover. She's a credit to the store and the business as a whole! She even showed me her current reads which I will be eagerly looking into! Big thank you to Meg!
Amazing store with four floors of books meaning you are almost guaranteed to find what you are looking for!! Staff are always willing to help you find books or give recommendations. It’s always great to use my student plus card for discount and to collect stamps to earn vouchers!!Yesterday we visited the cafe and I enjoyed a flapjack and kombucha canned but offered a glass with ice!. The dietary restriction labelling on cakes was a bit confusing as it was unclear whether the ‘v’ meant vegetarian or vegan.
Always a good experience at Waterstones. Mot 5 starts because I didn't notice then tend to take a rather long time before having the books that are currently trending on the shelves sometimes a month or two later after other Waterstones for example. Nothing bad per say, but probably better to book the books for collection beforehand. Else, very nice place, with a cafe as well on the top floor. A good amount of different genres as well.
A fabulous bookshop to browse and buy books. The wooden interiors and beautifully stacked shelves are very inviting. If you like to look at books, smell the pages and generally wander around bookstores, this is your place. The staff are always very helpful and kind. I have had great little suggestions from them over my many visits. A bookstore to come back to again and again.
This is a great place to buy your books! I was here during my stay in Newcastle and really enjoyed my visit. They have a great selection of books and a lovely café on the first floor where I enjoyed an iced latte and a vegan brownie. They both tasted amazing and I could relax while reading the book I bought. Definitely recommend checking this store out.
Very nice, clear signage for genres of books and what floor they are on between the three, clean and tidy, well lit, and a friendly atmosphere
Visited this Waterstones on our holiday in Northumberland this past week. Beautiful building! Unfortunately, my 12-year-old son left some souvenirs that he had bought on the floor while browsing for books. I phoned up the store later that evening when he realised he had lost them, and they were incredibly helpful in not just finding the items he had misplaced, but also going to the trouble of posting them to us in Nottingham as we were only in Newcastle for a day trip. Thank you to the lovely Waterstones staff and manager who sorted this for us. Much appreciated.
Enjoyed browsing around this Waterstones on an all too brief visit to Newcastle. It's only a few strides from Grey's Monument in the bustling shopping district. The impressive building it occupies, dating from 1903 and originally an upmarket restaurant, is wonderfully ornate both inside and out. It's a busy shop with ample space to browse and a lift to all three floors. A good selection of books covering a wide range of interests plus greetings cards, calendars, games and some beautiful jigsaw puzzles. There's a big children's section downstairs, full of imaginative games and toys as well as books. Plenty of reference books for students too. Was greeted with a lovely aroma of coffee when I arrived on the top floor! Did not have time to stop for a drink, but the café offered a good choice of speciality coffees and teas, some delicious looking cakes and scones, and plenty of places to sit among the displays of books or in the window where you can look out over the city. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which to browse through your purchases! Well worth a return visit.
Could spend an entire day here but we only had an hour to browse the enormous selection of books & gifts on offer here. Beautiful building and very well organised book shop. Very colourful and attractive displays. The coffee shop is a huge added bonus. Staff were so nice.
