My first time visit to this branch of Waterstones was today I have visited several other branches of the shop but I was taken aback by the sheer size of the place , whilst the ground floor seems large , there are 2 more floors which seem even larger than the ground floor. There are sections like children's books and science fiction + fantasy, which have a whole room dedicated to them , it is easy to spend a few hours browsing, well worth a look
Lovely and cozy massive book store! The largest of its kind in the city Centre, and for a good reason. You'll be able to find any kind of books here, with entire shelves and rooms dedicated to all kinds of categories. From Visual novels and fiction to 'alternative history and magic' ??, there is a section here for everyone including some extensive manga collection. There are board games, plushies, Harry Potter merch of course, and other deals in the ground floor, a section dedicated to children upstairs, and one dedicated to science, medicine, etc. further above. Definitely a place to check out in a windy, cold and rainy day in the city for a short break to find your next favorite book.
A totally awesome bookstore. Definitely worth a visit.
Loved this place. We went to meet friends at the nearby Christmas Market. We were a bit early so we called in. It was so much bigger than our local Huddersfield branch. I was in a book lovers heaven, with so many types and subjects. Got a few Christmas presents there as well.
As a tourist, I consider this place is what a bookstore should be, a great variety of book genres and even a cafe
Waterstones is far and away the best bookshop in the UK and this shop is one of its largest with a wide range of fiction and non-fiction over several floors, all with wonderfully helpful staff. With many people buying books online or using e-readers it must be getting ever more difficult to make a profit, so all of us who love books must support physical book shops like this.
Bookshop was very nice, staff very helpful, but the cafe was very different. It was 4.45pm and they were due to close at 6pm. We were told sorry you can't have a drink because we are doing a stock take !!!! Who does that on a very busy Saturday. Very disappointing.
After a bit of browsing bought the unabridged audio story of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Melted into one of their seats scattered around the first floor. Only sad that we didn't realise the cafe closed at 4pm. It's been one of my favourite stores and book stores for ages and still is.
Andrew went completely out of his way to search the entire store for all the books on my list. A nice conversation and genuinely fantastic person. Thanks for the help.
This 2 star rating purely reflects the staff and not the physical store or selection of books. Myself and disabled father came here for the cafe and I had only been once very briefly. We spoke to a gentleman on the desk who was polite enough and informed us the cafe was on the third floor. He didn't mention the elevator or the escalator or the cafe opening and closing times. I struggled with my disabled father up three flights of stairs and when we arrived at the cafe the very nice lady informed us they are closed. She very nicely informed us the lift was round the corner. 10/10 bookstore 2/10 staff.
