The staff at Warrington from my experience on level 1 bricklaying are supportive and lovely. I even finished the course early since I wasn't continuing! However, One member of staff was more than unprofessional! I made her aware of the fact I was trans and told them about my legal name change when enrolling. She changes it on the register, but during our conversation about my transition, she only corrected her wrong pronoun usage once. She told me she considers they/them pronouns rude. even saying she doesn't feel comfortable using them for students who ask her to! She had to call my mother about my attendance. She doesn't know a thing about my home life and, without consulting me, she told my mother I was seeking help in transitioning! That is outing someone! It can be so incredibly dangerous! We're lucky my mother isn't like other parents. For all she knew she could have endangered my life! The other support staff where lovely. And the tutors on my course where strict on bullying. I was whistled and moaned at and one of the staff went out to do something about it! Of course the students aren't particularly friendly. Most yelling insults or "Show us your bum". Be cautious when attending this school, especially as a queer person in an unsafe home.
Absolutely LOVING my Floristery course through Warrington & Vale Royal College, which is free at Westy Community Centre. Second one I've done now and absolutely recommend it. Sam, the Tutor is lovely and patient. Great group x
Excellent college! They put staff and students first, caring for their wellbeing, learning and personal development and growth! They have great links with the local community and employers to bring in new opportunities for staff and students, would highly recommend coming here.
Easy to find. Ample parking with good sized parking bays. Lots of grassy areas on campus to picnic lunch, along with a well stocked canteen area with plrnty of seating. Light and spacious building. Good clean toilet facilities. Lovely modern building with an active student buzz. I'm a mature applied art student who was here to install work ready for exhibition alongside other students covering a diverse age range. I felt a great sense of support from both staff and students alike. I would recommend this college to study at.
I completed a Childcare course at the age of 38yrs. I was very nervous as I had never studied at a college before and thought I was too old! My tutor supported me throughout my course. It was a 2yr course which I enjoyed very much. The reason I studied Childcare was because I was working as a self employed Registered Childminder and wanted to gain a qualification. Once I qualified I applied for a vacancy within the college Nursery and got the job which was a job of my dreams. I have changed my role but 22yrs later I am still employed.
An amazing college! I completed my wreath making course here, the tutors are very supportive and welcoming. I will definitely be signing up to another course soon.
a few great, knowledgeable hardworking staff here but sadly it seemed most were on the gravy train. some staff were seemingly too ill-natured to be working in education. i believe that they don't deal with bullying or care about the mental health of students. sometimes they could be tolerant of some very bad behaviour from students- e.g flagrant misogyny. some departments/courses are far better than others e.g health and social care staff were more caring and the teaching was decent and engaging. the science department is really bad i had an awful time due to bullying from a teacher and a group students and the teaching was very poor quality.
I would give them 0 if it was an option The place is a joke, they hold an open evening and tell you to attend to get more info on the course and speak to the tutors. Get there after travelling for 1 hour, no tutors there from the course I want, even though I told them the course I wanted in my original email. Was a complete waste of my time and money to get there, but there is one positive, I’ve found out how useless they are before I’ve signed up and paid.
Would put a zero if I could. Started to correspond with them in July of this year to enrol on a level 3 course which I qualified to complete for free. Had to email several times and chase them up. Completed and returned the required forms in August. It took them until Monday of this week to get it sorted out. Had a telephone interview and completed an assessment. I was then told that they had run out of funding but I could still do the course if I took out a learner loan.
Genuinely don't understand how they're still operating. General administration is laughable and course delivery a joke - difficult even enrolling on a course. Then imagine paying for it and the tutor doesn't even specialise in the area. Not even remotely. Also experienced issues in recovering money for a craft course that was cancelled. Not a college I would opt to study at or would recommend in the future.
