What a wonderful places to visit. A sign board explains in detail the history of this unique pillbox. Stunning views all around. You can incorporate a lovely walk whilst visiting. I keep well away from the cliff edge and walk my dog from the car park down to the sea. Would highly recommend. Please be aware, there are no proper paths to this area. It is all grass. Some areas may very difficult for those with disabilities/in wheelchairs etc.
It's a beautiful walk though some woodland to get to the pill box and there's plenty of fresh air and wildlife to enjoy. The walkways were suitable for walking and pushing a pram too!
I think this is the only remaining pillbox that hasn't fallen off the cliff into the sea. The others are on the beach. The parking is good. The Wildlife Trust restaurant is excellent. Clean and good food. The tower is worth a climb for £3 if you don't mind heights.
Beautiful area to walk in, the signs stating the history of the Naze are great additions. However, I'm a bit disappointed the pillbox has not been cared for. I would have loved to explore it had it not been for the graffiti and overwhelming smell of urine.
My Childhood Playground is centred here! The whole Naze area is beautiful and the history is fascinating!Even after spending so much of my time at the Naze,It is still the place I want to be when Homesick, which is often!
This is the pill box to end all pill boxes. It's just such a privilege to see so beautiful an example of concrete engineering, each step of its intricate hand moulded lines can only excite the true aficionado. It's beautifully placed, nestling in the delicate folds of the Naze, ready to defend our homeland. It makes one's heart sing to come across such superlative wartime defensive architecture.
Weather it's the sea side or the country side that you love. This place has both, and with some interesting history too.
Lovely place to walk dogs, explore. Lovely 4 mile loop walk around the estuary.
Go inside and read the grafitti. It will make your day! Also spotted a cute deer passing by.
Sits on the cliff in Walton- this one well in from the cliff edge - historic piece of military history - shame it's now use as a bin and for kids to play on
