Nice place. Bought the tickets for my Miss at midnight!
Nice and handy station was here in early July..Just watch that hill with luggage! helpful staff on train said to change for a faster train further down for London.
Looking tired now, shame the high tide was early afternoon because if your after a spot on a beach in good weather with just enough amenities to get by then Walton could be preferable instead of Clacton on Sea which is close enough to be visible from Walton's pier and maybe busier.
A barely average station that's on the western bit of the town it serves. Not really anything in terms of facilities however you at least get shelter, a ticket machine and car park. To add, the station is quite close to Walton Pier and the beach side. A good view of the North Sea is given from a walk away too. Train service is poor, being hourly at best nowadays.
I have certainly never seen such a concentration of colourful beach huts. They are not simply along the immediate seafront but stretch back row upon row on raised terraces! Adding to this traditional, family-friendly resort is the delightful pier with everything that one would expect from a huge amusement arcade to a long, seaward walk along the boards. Free and unlimited parking for all of this is available to those prepared to drive slightly out of town and then walk back - which is fair enough!
Seaside town of yesteryear still very much like it was when I was young. Nice to go somewhere that hasn't been modernised out of all recognition and still having some character. The Naze is lovely lots of space for a picnic in these difficult times.
Lovely little seaside town
Regularly visit this station due to my Dad having a beach hut in Walton. Punctual regular service hourly, would recommend using tickets displayed on your phone as the ticket machine and be a bit temperamental. Please note there is a direct service to morning peak and from evening peak London Liverpool Street, removing the need to change at Thorpe Le Soken if you live further down the line than Colchester.
Great but wish you could buy tickets there.
Beautiful spring day. Windy, cool but with sunshine. Place was deserted.
