Three of us visited last Saturday and we had the turkey dinner, which was delicious. Good size portions and everything was really tasty. The staff, as always, were lovely. The atmosphere here is warm and friendly and I would recommend anyone to try it for themselves. If you happen to be unhappy about anything just see the staff, they always aim to please.

Paid a spur of the moment visit here with family.
Have to say, the nacho's starter was extremely disappointing, cold and no more than six nachos with a couple of dollops of sour cream and dried up cheese.
The main course was better albeit had to wait a long time for it despite being very quiet.
Would possibly visit again for the Lancashire cheese and onion pie which was very tasty, but wouldn't go out of my way.

We have eaten here a few times and have always had an amazing experience both service and the quality of the food. Today we had a group booking for 15 of us we are fosterers for the silver fox dog rescue in daisy hill. The service and food was exemplary one of our party were too ill to attend so they parcelled up a fresh meal for them and delivered it to the house AMAZING!! Thank you so much for making today special and memorable we will be back

Living within a 5 min drive from here and wanted to treat our son. Oh dear oh dear. This was awful. The food was absolutely disgusting...if it were a trained chef...you should be ashamed......if it were a cook....you need to be trained. I had fish and chips of the lite bites at £8.50...it was huge..hardly a lite bite...the batter wasn,t cooked properly...the chips were hard...the mushy peas were luke warm. My wife had the cheese and onion pie....this was my bug bare....the pastry wasn,t cooked properly...it was not a pie pie encased in pastry but rather a pot filled with thick onion cheesy cream filling that had split out...chips hard again....really shocking. I suppose my sons food was fine. The fire place hadn,t been cleaned....blue tac probably left from xmas....candle wax drips....old food on floor been trod on....smell of stale beer from bar. The girls were very pleasant though and possibly tried to hide over the flaws but they are huge flaws. If Marstons aren,t interested then sell it on to someone who can make a go of it.......it is a potential gold mine with its ideal location on the A6 but at that standard it won,t be round for long. £50 for lunch it cost me. Should have stayed at home and cooked. People and the owners will probably wonder who is this person and why is he writing this........Answer:- I am a passionate foodie who loves the area... the area is crying out for a quality pub doing all the usual simple safe dishes and meals at a value....i have been in the trade for over 30yrs so i know quality and value and am willing to offer advice and help. Unfortunately The Waggon and Horses is miles and miles away. What a shame
