The house is really grand from the outside and inside. If possible make sure you can view the inside of the house. The guides inside will give you a detailed insight to the history and all the collections within the house. The gardens are beautiful to view too. There's an aviary and stables up can visit within the gardens. I would highly recommend booking the shuttle bus to get your trip started sooner as its a long walk in.
Fantastic place. Great place to visit especially if want to see how the richer people in society lives. You could comfortably spend days there. Each area was opulent with the various wall coverings, carpets, parquet floors etc.. The works of art adorning the walls are great from English and Dutch painters. I am adding a few photos to speak a thousand words. The cellars, wines, jewellery. The stables were great for food. You're able to take as many photos as you like but without a flash . A National trust car is a must as you will certainly want to visit more than once.
Fantastic place. The house is a must. A display of the wealth of the Rothchilds family but if you look beyond the opulence there is some fascinating exhibits. You will need up to 2 hours for the house. The gardens are lovely and very manageable but with some hilly parts. Book the house in advance and if your budget can stretch to it use the premium parking adjacent to the house. Worth the National Trust membership.
Stunning place to visit. The architecture alone is amazing. Lovely grounds too. Interior incredible. Amazing history. May want to book the shuttle bus from the car park though. We'll worth a visit and free for NT members.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Stunningly beautiful place visited many times over the years. Gorgeous house, but only a small portion dressed for Christmas and open this time, normally many more rooms to see. However the trees inside were lovely even to my professional eye! Lots of Christmas stalls outside to wander around for your Christmas gifts. The light show was beautiful and well worth the visit!
I never had a better experience visiting any British cultural site or collection. The Waddesdon Manor is quite versatile when it comes to attractions too; we enjoyed it for its art, the aviary, fine Sunday lunch, gardens and walks. But you can also spend some family time by taking your dog or by cycling. This place is a must-see for the fans of rococo and decorative arts, especially French. It is also fascinating for the fanatics of ornithology. Not only the aviary has some interesting species, but the Waddesdon also holds the collection of Sevres porcelain plates and dishes adorned with scientific, detailed images of bird species. The wine cellar and gift shop were also fine. I will definitely visit again, the grounds are vast and I need to revisit them. Waddesdon is lovely on a sunny day. It is quite easy to get there form London or even Birmingham and Coventry if you have a car. Either way, it’s worth a day trip and you could finish off with some shopping in the nearby Bicester Village. Lots of fun for families or student groups, the vast interests of the Rothschild family reflect the variety of its potential visitors.
Beautiful house and gardens make this property a great experience. Seeing red kites flying wild in the parkland was another plus. The guest services teams deserve praise for their above the average services, all with a smile. This includes the welcome team and the guides around the main house. I want to give a 5 star mention to Ian, a gardener. I was charging my car in the modern car park, I had accidentally left my car door slightly ajar, and visited the house which is a 20 minute walk uphill. I realised about the open door and tried to contact the car park attendant team by various methods. Ian tried to help by radio but we didn’t get an answer. Ian explained he was going to drive that direction anyway in his mower, and he offered to close the door. A few minutes later I could see the door was shut. My car then locked and we felt reassured. Cheers Ian - feel like I owe you a beer!!
This is a beautiful place for history buffs and also a great day out.x I took my mum who was in a wheelchair the staff is friendly and didn't need to worry about access. The garden are very beautiful. If you a walker this is a great place to go. I have one gripe which is I wanted more information about the house there was staff about but was too busy to stop to get information and could possibly get in other people's way but they do have booklets to read on each room. Overall I had a great day and will go again.x
Lovely grounds! Gorgeous aviaries. Would love to visit when the manor house reopens. Fabulous for meetings. They took excellent care of us, the lunch consisted of fresh tasty sandwiches, crisps, and brownies. Great coffee. Will be back next year!
Amazing place to visit on a day trip. Got the coach up from parking spaces as brought new puppy along with us. Walked around Christmas market stalls and ate our lunch. Great day out. Would definitely recommend!!
