A hungry horse family pub restaurant, offering good food & portions at an affordable price, something badly needed in these days of constantly spiralling food, fuel & energy costs. The service is faultless & the staff pleasant. Always enjoy my food & drink here. 5 stars. Recommended.
It's a hungry Horse. The menu is as expected, cheap and cheerful. Food service is fairly fast. The menu does have the calorie count next to most dishes too. You order at the table via an app, or you go to the bar and order and pay at the same time.. Parking is 2.5 hours for free, if you stay any longer you have to scan a QR code by the entrance or you will receive a £100 fine. This in itself is a kerfuffle!! Outside seating is minimal. Booking in advance is now advised as it gets fairly busy and tables arnt always available. Wait by the door to be seated on entrance. Great for families. Dogs allowed outside, not inside.
Good food and value for money. Very friendly, helpful and polite staff. Would recommend going here and I'd go back again
Excellent experience. Arrived without a table booked, staff were friendly and accommodating and we had a table. Bit of a wait at the bar to order however was back at my table in no time. Food arrived promptly, then desserts followed shortly after. Good food, good beer great prices and excellent service. Thanks
Good value for money grub, staff always very helpful and friendly. Portions are good, not too much and not too little and a good selection of drinks either alcoholic or not. Breakfast belter is a challenge!Recommended.
Good place for family meal, especially if you have young children. Pub has external play area for them.
We went to the Needle and Awl on Friday night and we had a wonderful team who helped us all along the way. The food as well was so good for what you pay it’s really worth it. Wendy was delightful and made us feel at home, Marie was lovely and made our ordering simple and made our teas which was very good very nice. Harmonie was also wonderful and helped us clear the table and made us smile and laugh. 101/100 would definitely recommend
When we realised there would just be 6 adults for Christmas lunch, including my 87 & 90 year old parents, we decided to go out to Christmas lunch for a stress free day. As my parents are disabled we needed an easy access venue. In all honesty, this restaurant would not have been our first choice, but I struggled to find somewhere that wasn't fully booked. To say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The staff were lovely, the food hot, delicious, plentiful and served in a very timely manner. The atmosphere very pleasant, with quiet seasonal music playing. We took table presents to make it extra special and had a very enjoyable, relaxing time. Excellent value for money. The staff particularly were very attentive and looked after us extremely well. A very enjoyable experience all round. Thank you.
Just eaten here for the second time this weekend. New menu is really really good. First meal was the new Korean chicken burger which tastes absolutely delicious. Has a slight kick to it, but that was what I was hoping, the salt and pepper fries were amazing too. Came over again for Sunday lunch, omg, what a lunch it is. Husband had the chicken and truly hungry horse portion's, all of the food on your plate is piping hot and absolutely delicious. I tried the new jerk chicken and ribs, which was one of the best things I have eaten here. An absolutely huge portion, great value for money, absolutely delicious though. Both the chicken and ribs were to die for and the rice was phenomenal. Just a side note, which actually should be the headline, the service here is amazing. Always a helping hand and a smile with everything you need. Can't wait to have room for desert's
Attended our granddaughter's birthday party in the children's play, wacky warehouse type place at the Needle & Awl. Play area was good and all the children seemed to have a good time. It was very busy and very noisy! The receptionist for this play area was working flat out on her own and was obviously first aiding as well.. Another member of staff came in very briefly when she had to attend to a child but couldn't work the coffee machine. Our daughter-in-law had booked and paid for food for the children plus ice creams for afters. We were told the kitchen was running late and the food didn't arrive until right at the end of our allocated session. Ice cream never materialised while we were there. I queued to get a cup of tea and coffee but had to wait some time with only one person on. The coffee was barely drinkable! This was our first visit here and we didn't go into the main pub, at all. I know one of the people attending who brings children here on wet days when she is childminding and that works very well, apparently. Despite this, on the basis of this first experience I wouldn't use the Needle & Awl for a child's birthday party again. 3-stars as the children enjoyed playing. Food service definitely needs work and, ideally there should be more than one staff member on.
