My wife and I are from Texas but love to try Mexican food in non USA countries. We left here impressed. The salsas had flavor and heat. The guacamole was fresh, had lime juice and jalapeños, was excellent. We went for it with a chicken mole enchilada- so glad we did! Was one of the best I've ever had. Margaritas were so so, chips too, but we were thrilled we visited.
Authentic Mexican dishes I had a 2-week trip in Mexico several years ago and loved the food there, yet not up to the standard I expected. We had a quesadilla with shredded pork and a mole enchiladas. Surprised to see mole, a Mexican sauce, on the menu, and it tasted nice with a note of cocoa. However both the quesadilla and enchiladas were bland and merely warm though the plates were very hot. The refried beans were done better than the mains. The cocktails were very good loved the mojito, and the decor resembles the great Mexican vibe we experienced there. Just a bit disappointed with the food we had.
This has to be the best food we have had out in a very long time. Absolutely delicious. A,taste explosion.. wonderful service, enthusiastic staff.. highly recommended if you are visiting Edinburgh. We stumbled across it by luck! very busy, but they found us a table .xFood: 5/5
An absolute gem of a find on Cockburn Street. Nestled away, this seemingly humble place was a corker of a restaurant. The best food we had whilst in Edinburgh - hands down! We prebooked online - which I would recommend due to how busy it was - and were seated really quickly. The atmosphere was buzzing and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout our visit. The frozen margaritas and nachos were a highlight - although we loved everything we ordered. A great value place, especially considering the location. It was just a shame we visited on our last night in Edinburgh, as we would have made a return trip here quite quickly! there's always a next time..

Great Mexican restaurant that I visited 30+ years ago….the Chicken Fajitas were awesome and served by a friendly and enthusiastic your wait staff
Before the pandemic, I often came here with friends, and we’d share lots of starters, especially guacamol, beans and salsas with corn chips, and the food was always perfect - I’m very picky about good and authentic Mexican food, and eating here has always been a rewarding treat. More recently, I’ve gone a few times by myself, but I end up having to take a lot of it home to enjoy later, as I fill up too quickly on the guacamol, beans and sonoras
Edinburgh has quite a few options for Mexican fare. Viva has to be on the list if you're aching for some authentic Mexican food. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Indoor and outdoor seating and surprisingly the margaritas were on point. We spent £50 for two with one drink each, 2 mains and starter. Ask for the super hot salsa and let it burnnnnn.
