I booked this at last minute and my only reason for choosing it was that there was nowhere else available. From the reviews on Hotels.com it didn't seem too bad, although there were quite a few very negative write-ups that got me worried. When we first arrived the initial impressions weren't too bad. The hotel looked ok from the outside, the reception area was quite nice and the manager Sonny was very friendly. He took us up to our room and at first glances it seemed to be great, especially the sea view. But then it all started to go wrong, very wrong indeed. My 14 year son sat on his fold out bed and it collapsed in a heap he's certainly not fat either! and closer examination revealed it had 3 broken slats and a broken leg. Then we saw the filthy stained mattress with metal springs actually sticking out of it. As my son lay on the floor in a daze he looked up to see a gigantic hole in the ceiling too! Already stunned that a hotel would think this was acceptable, we started to take a closer look around and discovered that our own bed was made up of 2 non-matching sections of a divan bed, which weren't even level, and the linen hadn't been changed changed as it was covered in stains I don't want to describe. The mould crusted bathroom was the final straw so my wife went and got the manager. His friendly attitude soon changed to one of not caring, saying "Sorry I have no other rooms, there's nothing I can do". We requested a refund and left, which I am still chasing over a month later through my credit card company.
Would not stay here would be better off in a bus shelter. More like a hostel than a hotel. No staff on duty manager or owner ment to ring me back to sort out problems with the room like hole in ceiling. Wast water backing up in shower when you turn on sink tap and toilet baking up. You take your own health in your hands if you stay here. Wasted £250.00 on a nights stay.
I never stayed there but I am so angry about the way they treat people. I booked a weekend and they charged me £300. I do not have alot of money but I wanted to see my family. I booked Friday and canceled Sat at 9am as my father died. Asked for a refund. That was a month ago. Now i can not get no answer or a reply. BEWARE
I cannot recommend this hotel. Did not have en-suite bathroom as promised, offered 2 free nights as compensation but never happened. Day 2 the electric in our room failed and was never fixed by the time we left the next day. Offered cash compensation. When we chased up both the free nights and cash the owner denied he made any such promise. Please avoid. If you do not believe me, please read reviews on Booking.com and also here
Would give 0 stars if I could. Arrived and the member of staff was so drunk I had to try and find our room key. Booked through hotels.com when we arrived was told payment hadn't gone through and was asked to pay cash. Woke up this morning and the payment had gone through so payed double for a room that was dirty. I wouldn't book here as now I'm reading reviews this has happened to others so must be a scam they run all the time. AVOID!!
Just a basic room. Charged £175 per night and £50 extra for a Monday 4 hours while rent advertised £45. Not only that at 11 am staff asked us to leave. While said we paid for today, he came again and asked what time we will leave. At 15:30 he checked again. First day while I was taking shower, someone knocked the door and advised not to shower as water dripping to downstairs. My whole family did not take shower on day 2 . Every now and then someone will knock your door. No one cleaned the room for 3 days. We need to request for towel every day. No hair dryer. What else you have here except a small room?
I have the worse experience in that so called "hotel". Nothing they show in the advert are not real anymore. I stay one night in room no.5. Toilet not functional but I paid for. For that room the price is £70, the rest of the rooms don't have bathroom inside, a hole in the ceiling on top of the bed... I will not recommend.
Avoid this place they promise you your room is booked on the phone and @that rate on that day and asking you if you will pay cash. Once you arrive they play mind game and tell you the rate is change because of high demand. Leave you with no option to pay £200 a night for prison cell. Once you arrived with your family and kids after long drive basically you screwed. And avoid to be transferred to his father b&b which is 300yrd away even worst Their free car park is basically back yard of shops and you would get scratch or dent and they denied any fault. Just book your self chain hotel which is at least got decent shower and toilet.
SCAM OF A HOTEL…called us the day we arrived to say our room was not available due to plumbing issues. We decided not to stay as the alternative options was not suitable and it was agreed our booking would be cancelled however this was not the case and they still took our money!! They are now denying this happened however I have phone register to show they called us!! Absolutely disgusting and avoid at all costs
My 18 year old son stayed here firstly was advertised room would be double room with an en-suite however ended up in a single room with no en-suite for same money, however still stayed there, then upon leaving was told the deposit for room would be paid back within two days, no money still to this day has been paid back which has now been a month after numerous messages and phone calls now I’m being completely ignored Customer service is appalling I would avoid staying here at any cost! the managers name I was dealing with is called sonny and the family own a few businesses in clacton. I will be advising anyone to steer clear of anything they own as it all seems a big con! Seabreeze The beaches Kings cliff
