We've had 2 static vans on Violet bank and we love it ..we chose this park for the stunning fell views, the peace and quiet and lack of commercialism..the site is very well maintained and Carl the site manager is always on hand if you need anything. It's the ideal place to retreat from the world, bag a fell, wander into the beautiful town of Cockermouth, eat, drink and totally relax. This is one of the fabulous views from our van.
We chose this Caravan Park because of the great location in the lake District area and from Caravan we can see the mountains and Countryside and its a great view. The Park consists of lodges and Caravans . It's in a quiet area and is pet friendly and dogs are allowed on a lead .The Parks has a policy of cleaning up after you dog . It is open 12 months of year and site fees are reasonable for the year . We have owned our Caravan 2 years but some residents have been here over 10 years in the Park. Residents are very friendly and we enjoy the annual hog roast meeting up with the other people who reside there on the park. We use our Caravan as a holiday home and can stay there up to winter months .Gas is supplied in bottles and electric is by anual bill . There are workmen available if you have any problems. You can sit outside on the decking with a glass of wine and take in all the scenery . It's a haven for wildlife and my husband loves the dog walk area and takes beautiful photos of the wildlife and Scenery there... as taking photographs is his hobby . Its location is around 2 miles from Cockermouth area, a beautiful place with local shops and has superb supermarkets such as Sainsbury's and lidyl and Aldi all close to each other for Shopping. It also has restaurants and you can order take aways to be delivered to park....There is beautiful places to visit and Maryport has a harbour and Sealife centre and great beach. Another place is Allonby beach which is very welcoming with picnic tables around and great views and sunsets. And it also has a great park . Also Whitehaven has a beautiful marina and beach to visit and Workington is nearby. We also have visited Buttermere lake and crummock water area and the area a Lake is stunning. This park is just what we wanted !!
Bought a static caravan at Violet bank in June 2021 and it was the best decision I ever made. It’s a lovely quiet site with stunning views of the mountains and 15 minutes walk from the wonderful pubs and eateries in Cockermouth. It’s great being so close to the town with its supermarkets and yet the site still feels like it’s out in the middle of nature. Love it. Site staff are friendly and helpful and even hosted a free Hog Roast in the summer to allow residents to meet. The fact it is open 12 months off the year is an added bonus. Christmas at Violet Bank this year was magical.
Violet Bank is perfect for us, it’s beautifully maintained by great staff and like all other caravans on there we have a stunning view of the renowned Lake District landscape. We love the peace and quiet; no clubhouse just a nice little children’s playground. Cockermouth is a short walk away and a lovely town with a great selection of independent shops- oh and some of the best coffee! Being on the edge of the National park we benefit from access to all the well known attractions, as well as less busy spots like the stunning solway Firth It’s perfect!
A hidden gem, is one way of describing Violet bank. After looking for many years we have found our happy place, with stunning views from our holiday home of the outlying North Western Fells right through to the distant valley of Buttermere you know your in the Lake District , with the added bonus of being in walking distance of the Bars and Restaurants and shops of Cockermouth, this friendly, quiet and well run site is a perfect choice for Lovers of the Lakes. The staff are brilliant very helpful and friendly.
We bought our caravan almost 5 years ago,best thing we have done. Love the peace and quiet,views are fantastic. Proximity to local town,pubs and restaurants varied and good . Location is ideal for visiting nearby villages,towns and walks. Buses are regular from Cockermouth to larger towns. Site is well run and huge improvements have been made over last two years Would recommend to others thinking of taking the plunge to do it . A &N Sellars
I have been at Violet Bank for 3.5 years, l couldn't recommend it enough! The site is well situated with easy walking access to the town for all your amenities. The staff are brilliant, super friendly and helpful. The grounds are maintained to a superb standard and the views Over Buttermere fells and Lorton are to die for! I guarantee you will fall in love with this quiet site.
I have been coming to Violet Bank with my wife and family for 15 years. The location is very convenient for shops etc in Cockermouth within walking distance. Days out at the coast and fells are in close proximity. The site is very tidy and well looked after with help available from site Manager or staff when required. Views are spectacular , all in all very good.
Violet Bank is peaceful and welcoming and the place we love to while away the time. It’s relaxed friendly atmosphere makes it a place where we can unwind and take advantage of the beautiful countryside and local facilities. Our dog loves the local walks that are on the doorstep. Helpful and approachable staff are always there to offer advice and a friendly face. It’s our happy place
We first saw Violet Bank in the pouring rain - and still fell in love with it! If you're looking for activities, clubhouse or the like - it's not for you. But if it's peace and quiet with stunning views you're after, then this is the place. It's location makes it simply ideal to reach every place to satisfy your mood and interest, with easy access to the sea and fells, towns and villages, lakes and rivers, - you can even be over the border in an hour. The park is superbly maintained by friendly and helpful staff and is beautifully landscaped and planted. We can think of no other spot where we would wish to be.
