Excellent service, delicious beers, lovely outdoors seating area perfect for a sunny day. I only had a couple of starters as a meal, and they were spectacular. An air of goats cheese with beetroot and pesto dressing, and some squid rings in panko. Plenty of parking. Inside is small but cozy, with fireplace and tv screen licals were watching horse racing when I visited. Decoration is a bit dated but lovely as it is really aithentic. There is a stunning handcrafted glass and iron "vine tree" sculpture made during the pandemic, displayed in pride of place, on the bar Service was great. All ales and lagers are of quality, and delicious. They were testing a music band for the next day, so keep an eye, as I am sure there is live music there, too, from time to time. Totally recommended. Follow my instagram at touring_and_roaming!
Such a great pub, with delicious food! Definitely didn't expect to be this good. We got the proper English pub vibe, but with an exquisite meal. If you are heading this way, definitely stop for a meal.
Unbelievably good value. Delicious meal, interesting menu, cosy pub atmosphere and attentive staff. We had blackened trout and cheese soufflé for starters and then monkfish curry and wags burger for mains. We were too full for puds. All was excellent!
We came here as a table of 11 Saturday night and it did not disappoint! The steak was outstanding and cooked to perfection for all of us and the burgers are incredible. The staff were really attentive. We will definitely all be returning on a regular basis.
I went for a dinner last night with my friend. We was served dinner by chef George who was so welcoming and made sure everything was perfect for us .Absolutely amazing service and the food was incredible.
If you want a pub that’s full of old, drunk men who stare at you, dank decor, dogs & rude staff, then go there. Food was poor. Fish & chips were tasteless & greasy, ping & ding, frozen rubbish for £16 each! You can get better from Aldi & that isn’t an exaggeration. It’s got a horrible atmosphere & the menu is very limited & doesn’t flow or make any sense. If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, you’ve got nothing there. The staff were ‘off’. Perhaps they sensed we were not impressed. Never going back.
My girlfriend and I just ate here tonight. Lovely fire going, warm and friendly service, and the venison pie is possibly the best pie I've ever eaten. We'd definitely return here if in the area again.
Booked for a group of 12 for lunch and was asked to pre-order food. Got there on time and had to wait an hour for food despite the pre-order having chased it twice. Service was awful. We weren't offered more drinks, or an explanation for why the food was so delayed. Once second drinks orders had been taken, some drinks never arrived. When it finally came, the food was underwhelming. £10 for kids meals which were a handful of undercooked freezer fries and a sausage which looked like the end had been bitten off. Adults meals were nothing special and were expensive. We complained at the end and were given our drinks for free and told they were a chef down, hence the delay.... We won't be going back.
Food wasn’t great- ordered panko-breaded Brie as starter and had to send it back as it was still frozen in the middle. The replacement Brie was frozen as well. My partner enjoyed his lamb rillette, although the portion was quite small. I had a burger for my main and it was just average. The staff were nice, and they took the Brie off the bill, but I felt the meal was very pricey and not really worth it.
Not the best of experiences to be honest. I had the pork belly that was ment to come with fondant potatoes. The pork wasn't great, quite a small portion and the potatoes were far from fondant, just plain boiled potatoes. The cassoulet with it was quite good, but the dish certainly wasn't worth £25! My partner had the burger which wasn't particularly hot and she said was an odd texture. I tried some and it reminded me of the cheap frozen burgers that my mum cooked me as a child! We were very disappointed after reading so many good reviews recently.
