Love the Village Inn's cosy character and tasty food. Good value, well cooked pub staples but splashed out on £28 wild bass which was gorgeous. Puds full on too.
Amazing Christmas Day lunch. Everything cooked to perfection and it was delicious. Prompt and professional service, whilst friendly also. The Christmas card on the table was a very nice touch. I hope we will be able to be in Thurlestone again for Christmas next year! Thank you team Village Inn.
Went in for Sunday Roast. Pork shoulder and veg beautifully cooked and presented. Nut roast struggled but feedback to the Manager was taken on board with grace, and an allowance made. Fine selection of beers and wines. Staff were first class. Vegetarian options: Sufficient choice. Parking: Sloping drive. Plenty of room. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
We actually went to the Thurlestone Hotel in The Bar for a Fantastic Ham and Cheese Sandwich it was freshly sliced bread and top quality Ham and Cheese, Rebecca Served us and the service was excellent, my wife had a Harvey’s Bristol Cream Sherry and I had a Peroni Lager, we loved the New Decor and the ambience is first class
First visit to the area. Had a lovely Sunday lunch, well cooked, hot and tasty. Eat here also Monday evening, our party of 7 all very happy. We found the service excellent. We will definitely be returning on our next visit.
Nice place, very friendly server, but waiting time was extreme, 1 and half hours . Unfortunately, half the dishes were served cold and all the steaks on the table were cooked without seasoning. After complaining to the manger he gave as a great discount to make up for our bad experience. I understand that things can go wrong some nights,I also own restaurants, and the manager's gesture was appreciated, but I can't review based on good intentions, thus 2 stars .
The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable, a real assett to the pub. The food was delicious. Lovely drinks and nice and cosey inside on a cold winter's day. Parking: We parked in the thurlestone hotel but there is an overflow car park for the pub across the road.
The only appeal of eating here is that this is the only village option. We have had a series of very disappointing visits and it goes from bad to worse. The food is ok if a bit unimaginative limited vegetarian options and expensive. The food service is appallingly slow and inaccurate. Last visit our starters were totally forgotten. This visit food took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive with one person’s food arriving 25 minutes ahead of the rest. The senior service is consistently charmless and unapologetic. Either they are deeply frustrated themselves with the kitchen or unsuited to customer service or possibly both. Very sad to see a popular local institution in a state of complacent decline.
Really great pub with superb service. The food is excellent and we always like it here. So why the 4 stars? Well it’s a tad overpriced and the menu is a little limited with no pasta dishes. Also the service is so slick you almost feel you’re on a conveyer belt. But it’s still a must to visit if you’re here for the week and it’s dead easy to book a table online. 4.5 stars from us.
Went for lunch walking from Thurlestone Sands, food excellent at this price point vs others in the area. Fish pie tasty and burger best I can't remember in a while. Deserts a little expensive but good. Covid one way system in place and all staff with visors, good show.
