It's all in the batter. And it's very good at The Village Fryer. Not too think, and just the right amount of crisp. Tip: instead of cod, try the haddock option. And the chips are fine as well. Efficient service.
Dreadful chips, seem to be reheated; very dry and tasteless. Even better was the 7 tiny battered mushrooms for £2.50. A total waste of money, will definitely never be back! Most of them ended up in the recycling bin
