Always happy to talk and learn about the finer points of cheese with the proprietors! Best place to pick up a great selection for your wine and cheese party. Yes they have a fine selection of wine too. From responsibly sourced meat products, to hard to find spices, dried Mexican peppers, dried goods, terrines, the Deli has you covered. Fresh locally baked and their homemade liver pate are not to be missed. Definitely a foodie paradise!
I had a really delicious vegan sausage roll from here and went back later for some more goodies. Lovely shop with lots of vegan options, I will definitely visit again. It's a shame my husband and I don't live closer.
I have been frequenting the Deli long before we made the decision to move our family to Wivenhoe. It still firmly remains one of my favourite spots for lunch, and I often go early for the delicious, freshly made sandwiches and soups to be enjoyed either on the waterfront, or at home. The owners have always been very friendly to me. I respect their preferences for limiting numbers in their store, as well as the mask-wearing requirement during this difficult time.
A refreshing range of yummy foods and drink not easily found elsewhere, local producers and a central location in Wivenhoe. If you're visiting for the day pop in for something special to eat and drink at home...
Love the pip and nut maple peanut butter here. There's a range of food and tea options. Would definitely recommend. For now, they do require masks and only 3 people allowed at once, so remember to bring your mask to get in!
Really wanted to pop into this shop, however I had only just stepped into shop and a man behind the deli counter very abruptly said "MASK!!!, and "only one person allowed as there are already too many people in shop" bearing in mind this is may 2022 and most shops have eased covid restrictions. I do understand people do have more strict views and rules in shops still but there are nicer ways to get a message across, I did feel a bit shocked at that reaction. Instantly put me off going in,so I didn't and I would have brought items so was a bit of a shame. From the previous reviews it looks like a lovely shop, anyone looking at going in, please take and wear a mask, that is my advice.
I’m a regular customer here. The range of food on offer is extraordinarily impressive; and everything is of really high quality. The choice of cheeses is superb. So is the choice of meats, soups, sweet and savoury biscuits and condiments. There are lots of fine wines and excellent breads and delicious cakes to choose from, fresh eggs and top of the range jams and marmalade, tasty teas and delightful coffees ... the list goes on on. Such a wealth of good food and drink in such a relatively small space is pretty close to miraculous. The service is first class: warm, informed and very friendly. The proprietors seems to know everything there is to know about food and drink; and they are always willing to share their expertise with their customers. This is the heart of the village - although I guess it might be more anatomically correct to call it Wivenhoe’s well fed and well satisfied stomach. Whatever you call it, it’s a place that offers real quality and value for money.
Absolutely brilliant place. Excellent selection of cheeses, wines, baked goods. Owners are very friendly. One of my favourite places in Wivenhoe.
The man working in here was extremely rude. Wouldn’t let my child in. A perfectly well behaved and reasonable 9 year old. It was like something from a Victorian era. I would never support a business that doesn’t appreciate mothers shopping with children. Their loss, that’s £20 of my money they didn’t make today.
Wivenhoe Deli has a good variety of quality cheeses, wine and food. Friendly service and Covid conscious and have remained open through the whole of the pandemic. I especially like the cumin goats cheese - yum!
