Very busy , food was good , we were going for a pudding and another drink . Waited at least 10 minutes to get served but walked out. Staff couldn’t keep up . Need more staff. The staff were still pleasant It was a Thursday night approximately 6 pm. They have outside areas in wooden booths. Big car park but I would go again but if car park busy I’ll go somewhere else .
Not recommended!!! "Ember Inns" standard fare, you would think, but, no!!!! First and last time there, we were visiting Stoke-on-Trent from Liverpool, arrived at 13.00pm Saturday 3rd November, it was not busy, ordered quickly, but, service was terrible, had to ask "twice" where food was, "90 minutes later" it at last arrived, I had ordered "Scampi and Chips" £9.29, this is what I got, "it was cold"!!! See pictures!!! We "complained" and left!!! "NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL"!!! Monday 5/11/22. In reply to the "Victoria Hotel". Thankyou for your prompt response!! But, "no" thankyou!! We shall not be returning, the two ladies I was with are from "Dublin" and have left with a "very poor" opinion of "Ember Inns" indeed!!! Furthermore, you should also be aware that there were two "families" on tables close to ours, whose children were very well behaved, but, were also waiting for their food and finding it "very hard" to reassure them it would be soon!!! Quite frankly, the "service and the food" was "absolutely awful" and as a business owner myself, the standard of "management" at the "Victoria Hotel", especially, for a "Saturday afternoon" was, to put it simply, "non-existent"!!!! That said, my personal opinion is, as I previously stated, "NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL"!!!
Overall the visit was excellent. On arriving we were directed to our table. The evening was very busy. Maybe at the table a brief leaflet as to how and what to do would be a good addition, as this was our first visit and we we not sure if we had to go or where to go to place an order. I asked one of the staff who advised that it was table service. The evening from start to finish went very well , where the waitress was extremely polite and very attentive not in abtrucive way. The food was piping hot of good quality presented to a high standard. We look forward to visiting again.
Visited for food with friends, all on our lunch breaks wanting a drink and quick snack, however from previous experience of The Victoria Hotel we should have known that this was not going to be quick! Waiting to get served at the bar for a good 10 minutes and we then waited an hour for food which wasn't the best when it arrived and one meal wrong. The pub was busy and the staff were all very pleasant and certainly hard working. Kerry was very apologetic! More staff are definitely needed as sitting surrounded by uncleared tables and always having to wait at the bar to be served whenever you go, let this nice pub down. Fortunately, we've jobs that don't restrict us to a set time for lunch breaks. We'd not been since the refurbishment, therefore choosing here. Will try again another time in the hope of a better experience!
This was our 3rd time at the Victoria and could not complain about the food on the previous 2 visits. On Sunday we were going to try the beef roast dinner but was told that they had run out of beef. So we had turkey instead which was nice but I cut into one of my roast potatoes and there was a big black lump and the roast parsnips were hard. I don't think we will be going on a Sunday again we were really disappointed. Also the gravy had a strange taste. We had to wait about 30 minutes for 1 treacle pudding and 1 bowl of ice cream
Good staff, great food this time around! Our whole party enjoyed the experience! Another visit, same excellent experience
I have been here on a few occasions over the last few months. The pub is always busy and so it can be quite noisy at times. The staff are ways helpful and try to get your food ordered and out to you as quickly as they can. Any dietary needs have always been dealt with in a professional way, thank you to Amelia and Elliot for this.
Due to hit and hit miss standards I didn't bother with this place for years. Last week I tried it found a meal to be fine - and the service good. Today I ordered a 'sandwich' which i wouldn't give to a dog or a prison inmate. And the staff? Uninterested in customers and simply didn't want to be there. The majority of the meals here are all prepared elsewhere and simply need to be microwaved. Not rocket science for them. A sandwich however, needs to be freshly hand -made and they simply have no interest in that - because it needs a bit of TLC and thought. But they don't think. I'll try it again in another five years. Shame.
Waited a while to be served, only one member of staff at one point then another joined her. Very pleasant. Had sandwiches, the brown bread was dry and presentation not good, looked like a plateful of crisps with sandwich and side salad
We came here after the Polite Vicar wasn't able to cater for an allergy and what a great decision it was. Amazing service, especially considering we had an unusual food allergy to consider and there was nothing that the staff wouldn't help with, but to top it all, the food was amazing and very filling. Very very highly recommended.
