What can I say! Lived in the village for 30+ yrs and never been, until last night. I could never understand why such an "expensive" restaurant was always so busy. Well, now I know. Excellent food, attentive staff, a good wine and beer selection and certainly "not expensive". We had the Evening Special 3 Course, my main was the 32oz mixed grill, certainly the best cooked and biggest mixed grill I've ever had, anywhere. No pressure to leave at all and we were some of the last there. We'll certainly be going back, we just need to find a good slot for us all. 5/5 Thanks Bex and Steve for the invite and your guidance through the menu.
Had a lovely family Sunday lunch. Staff were helpful and friendly and the food was great. Portions are large but it isn't quantity over quality as all courses were well made. Definitely worth a trip if you are looking for a nice 3 course Sunday lunch.
The food was delicious but a bit dry and service was decently quick. The restaurant was understaffed when I went so likely would be better if it was fully staffed. The atmosphere was excellent and the building was historical so it was fabulous inside with a cosy atmosphere and very festive. The toilets are clean but small however a bit difficult to access if you are older. The starters are outstanding and the mains fell somewhat short. The drinks were good and with a great range. Parking: Very few parking spaces so street parking is likely the only option and in a one way system can be difficult.
Ate here for the first time and it was absolutely brilliant. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Service was spot on friendly but not fussy and there was simply no rush all night. Food was excellent and portions and pricing were superb. Really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend and will return.
Came for Sunday lunch with 4 other people. Absolutely brilliant meal. Fantastic value for 3 courses and a large amount of choice especially for both starters and mains. I went for Yorkshire pudding starter and roast lamb. Everything was amazing, tasted fresh rather than frozen like a lot of places. Choice of veg and roast potatoes all came out smelling and tasting delicious and nicely seasoned. All the staff were very polite and professional and only too keen to help. Special thanks to Costas for helping us out as two of our party were vegan/vegetarian and he was only too happy to make sure they enjoyed their experience. Will definitely be coming again!
This place never fails to impress. Food is very good and plentiful. Service is always excellent and very friendly staff. Vegetarian options: There are a couple of starters and main courses availabke which my vegetarian daughters love Kid-friendliness: There are always children here at Sunday lunch. All the children we have seen are very well behaved. Parking: The car park isn't big but there is always plenty of road parking
Excellent food and service! Big portions, all dishes tasted good and the 3-course set menu is really good value for money! The waiting staff were all very attentive and the courses were served quickly!

An Absolute Gem...our friends introduced us to this Fabulous place and we will definitely be back. . Superb food , a fantastic team there a good vibe about the place what more could you ask for....Well done to the whole team @ Venus and thank you for a super evening Food: 5/5
Fabulous food, brilliant service a fantastic restaurant for family and friends of all ages. Great selection of wine beer and spirits, absolutely our favourite place to eat. 10/10 well done Venus! Parking: Private car park
