Story

From market stall to dot com, we now serve the nation from our original premises in Edinburgh. We are Scotland's oldest Delicatessen and Italian Wine Merchant; one of Europe's original Specialist Food Shops, founded in 1934. From our humble beginnings, serving the fledgling immigrant Italian community in old Edinburgh, we now list food products and wines from around the world, and supply the entire UK with an efficient, speedy delivery system that boasts a next-day service to 90% of the population.

We are an independent family business - free to place before you new and exciting products together with our more traditional food and wine. Our roots are firmly planted in tradition - our growth is nourished by technology - our future lies in the pursuit of ever increasing quality, value and service in all that we do.

In the online shop you will find our own-baked bread, cakes and biscuits, and an extensive range of cheese, champagne, cookery books, coffee, tea, kitchenware, pasta, rice, salami, sausages, oil, vinegar, port, dessert wine, whisky and wine - lots of wine!

We hold tastings and cookery demonstrations in our Caffè Bar throughout the year. We also have an on-site gift room and book shop which is converted into a 70 seat theatre during August to become a venue in the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival.

Asked some friends for a great lunch spot as its our Aniversary weekend and was recommended to visit Valvona & Crolla.. Could not have been happier. Mooch in the shop, browse the goodies then fabulous lunch and wine.. Can't wait to come back.
What an amazing delicatessen this is, one of Edinburgh’s great institutions! Popped in yesterday for a quick coffee & glass of wine before catching a bus and were disappointed that we had to leave as it was so good. Staff very nice & friendly and whole ambiance just hits the spot. We will definitely be back for a longer visit including food & wine & some shopping.
Fantastic delicatessen with so many wonderfully different products to choose from, we had simple pizza and a to-die-for raspberry brownie, so good. Great service too

This delicatessen is an Edinburgh institution with an amazing range of great produce. Valvona & Crolla also do events, last night I attended an Italian wine and cheese tasting, very interesting and enjoyable. Will be watching out for future events.
What a great experience! Couldn't have been nicer food; the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere in the restaurant was So so relaxing. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be coming back in the future.
Tucked amongst a row of shops is this must-visit deli, wine-merchants and restaurant. There are a range of premium italian meats, cake, cheeses, as well as fresh pasta and much more when you first enter the store. Continue further back, and the establishment opens to an incredible range of wines, all sorted by region at reasonable prices through to a few hundred pounds for a vintage bottle of wine. If you're unsure, the staff are attentive and helpful. Then, just as you don't think there can be anything else, you'll find the well staffed bistro/cafe at the rear. Offering a well planned menu including paired wines, again at a good price for incredible gourmet food. This truly is a hidden gem in this city, do not miss out.
This store is a food lover's paradise, offering a wide variety of high-quality Italian and Mediterranean food products, as well as a deli counter, wine and cheese shop, and café! If we lived in Edinburgh we would be hitting this place up weekly!
An amazing range of produce - fresh, cured and more. Helpful staff. We had breakfast here and it was lovely. Freshly made pastries, continental and full breakfast. The coffee was some of the best I've had.
Was fortunate enough to have lunch here while visiting Edinburgh and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee was made perfectly and tasted great and the food was so fresh and delectable it made me wish I never had to leave. On top of that the deli area has some fantastic products if you want to bring some of that amazing taste home with you and try to measure up to the quality dishes from the restaurant.
