The decision to have gradiation on a monday is absolutely ridiculous. Some of us are trying to study and everything is fenced off or under bag check. which aren't even performed properly so are pointless I am disabled and have had to walk round to all the buildings for my lectures or out in the pouring rain around the maze of blocked off entranced just to get to class. We were given no warning of this whatsoever. Completely inaccessible and you can't go anywhere without having your photo taken with grads blocking up doors to classes and corridors. This could have easily been avoided if graduation or whatever is going on was held on a weekend or closing the uni for a day, even informing current students because you are disturbing our studies/classes. People are literally bringing screaming babies into the LIBRARY and leaving rubbish everywhere and some of us have deadlines coming up and need to study. Some areas of the uni are completely unaccessible or through bag check every time, which was a terrible decision for those of us who have lectures in multiple buildings. Horribly laid out and terrible execution. Edit: I received a very blasé and dismissive email in response to this. It's really no wonder that hardly anyone comes into campus on my course when things like this happen. It wasn't the first and I'm very sure it won't be the last because it shows that they don't listen to the feedback of their students at all - AKA PAYING CUSTOMERS. Very disappointing to know Northumbria isn't bothered at all about disabled students or CURRENT students just trying to get on to campus to study for a degree we are paying a lot of money for. As already said, this event should had been held on another day to avoid causing grief and inaccessibility to students. For a university that supposedly cares about the needs of disabled and neurodivergent students it really shows that this is all just a massive lie.
Unfortunately, They started downgrading my assignments after halfway through my Master's Psychology course, and finally, they adjusted my scores just below merit intentionally. Based on my experience, it is pointless to appeal because they are going to explain in that way that is playing on their side in their favour. I do not recommend to come from the EU to this university, because it is biased, and they will move every stones just let you get something worthless degree for the same educational fee that other British or Asian learners will be unfairly way better scored even though they never deserved it and you fall behind. Europeans are being prejudiced and disfavored by this organisation.
Makes no secret of its relationship with Lockheed Martin, whose role in the global arms trade is significant. Northumbria University would do well to recall its strategy of ‘tackling the global challenges of our age to transform society’.
I'm here for a master's degree. So far, my experience with the university has been positive, but my experience with the tutors has been negative. Some tutors are extremely rude to international students and teach pointless. However, because the campus is beautiful and large, you will have to walk a long distance to get to your next class. The library and parking facilities are excellent. Almost every 50 meters, there is a bike parking spot. I would especially discourage international students from enrolling in business and marketing courses here. I'm facing issues with my programme leader 'Craig Bradshaw' because he appears to dislike Asian students and intentionally gives them lower grades or fails them in assessments. By the way, I'm studying digital marketing. The grading system is atrocious; they teach you ABC and expect you to do XYZ. However, some tutors, such as Andrew Robson and Kirk Dodds, really motivate you and teach well, as well as listen and resolve the queries of international students. I'd say the university is good, but it's ruined by some of the professors. Please don't be so harsh towards international students. #iamnorthumbria #northumbria #university #newcastleupontyne #england #digitalmarketing #unitedkingdom
It is an wonderful experience to be a part of this university. I really admire the study system but I would really appreciate if management and administration team give some more extra effort to give clear response to students.
Northumbria University is the largest university of the North-East sife of the UK. The varsity was fully renovated in 2008. Since then, there are two limbs of the campus, the east wing has only 2 buildings, one having law and business faculties, another one dealing with social science, arts, designing. The west wing deals with the other faculties and is 6-7 times the east wing. And, most of the student accommodations are also at the east wing. The library facility of Northumbria University is one of the best in the UK and was declared joint 1st in the whole UK by Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2014. This varsity is one of the top 3 varsities in the UK in terms of sporting facilities. The city centre of Newcastle is just two steps away, and it makes this university being placed just at the heart of Newcastle. And, Newcastle being one of the most student friendly cities of the UK plus, the fact that this city is one of the most livable- makes Northumbria University one of the most sought after universities in the UK.
Top place in the North for Computing. Easy access, excellent student support.
The admission process is a disgrace. The information you get from the admissions office is either outdated, conflicting or irrelevant. In one email you can get links to documents that have completely different information. It takes them ages to answer and honestly when you finally get a reply it seems like they’re drunk or high there, because what you get is so irrelevant it makes you question their sanity. None of the questions I asked were actually answered, even though they were directly related to what was requested by the admissions team. This was not the case with any other uni in the UK.
The security and bar staff are really helpful and friendly and made the gig really enjoyable
Son did Electrical and Electronic Engineering course here. Struggled from early on. Was allowed to resit and repeat without any reasonable pastoral support or even investigation. Grabbing the fees at his expense in my opinion. Poor outcome. Big debt. Didn't deliver on work experience. Shocking. He should have sued them for failing to deliver in my opinion. Poor poor show.
