I have been previously late last year and I went this week with my wife to this hospital, and we are both impressed with the care and attention given by musculoskeletal staff on the 4th floor, excellent experience, and very professional and caring parking was £4 for a few hours which is a bit steep my only gripe if you can do an appointment under 30mins it is free but think that is now the normal in hospital parking now.nThank you .
Aww I was so nervous, as I don't leave the house. The 2 girls that did my mammogram were fantastic.. I've never felt more comfortable having this examination. As I don't stand much they both checking to see if I need to have a break. They work so well together. Katy & Asian girl I'm so sorry I've racked my brain trying to get your name I only remembered Katy as it was my Gran's name. Great team thank you so much girls.
Nice hospital, noticeably not busy on my visit, no reception staff at main entrance on reception desk. No signage for MRI or CT & Ultrasound on main directions board so I headed for bowel screening department for my scheduled CT scan. I hadn't received a letter with an outlay map on of the hospital as my appointment was due to a cancellation by someone else. Once I got to bowel screening they directed me to CT & Ultrasound department and at the reception area here was the only sign saying CT Scaning. I was 10 mins late due to this lack of signage. Small signage on the entrance doors that refers blue badge holders to report to security with blue badge , this should also have signage in the blue badge parking area in my opinion. Mick on security was very helpful and filled out my exemption form on my behalf. I found very limited staff but the ones I did find were very helpful. One thing I found disappointing was when having a CT scan nobody mentions the fact that a CT scan is equivalent to 200 + x-rays in one sitting which is an extremely high amount of radiation but because it's deemed safe nobody explained what the effects of this amount of x-rays can do to the body especially in the over 65's. From my understanding it causes DNA damage and weaknesses bone density so I took high doses of Spirulina the day before and on the day of my CT scan because it has been proven to reduce the negative effects of exposure to radiation and it's the reason NASA has been giving it to astronauts since the Apollo programme in the 1960's . I feel everyone undergoing a CT scan should be made aware of the effects of the amount of radiation exposure and also benefits issued Spirulina before and after the procedure as a safety precaution. Overall experience was 6/10 for the reasons mentioned. The NHS can and should do better especially for those of us that are fully paid up members.
First time are this hospital. Greeted by a lovely volunteer gentleman. Very fast & efficient service from start to finish in the breast service. With friendly helpful staff. Thank you
Hospital is well sign posted throughout, though there are lots of friendly staff around to help find your way around the hospital if you get lost. The hospital has a café Wilbers Café which sells a wide variety of hot drinks, sandwiches and cakes. Ample hospital parking is available, free for 20 mins otherwise tariffs apply. valid as of September 2018 There is no A&E department.
