Peter was highly professional and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. He gave me everything I wanted from my new home. I was looking to make more of the space and include a guest shower room and I could only think of one way of achieving it. Peter came forward with three better ways and once I’d chosen my preferred option he refined it and put together all that was needed to gain building control approval. Throughout the process Peter was reliable and easy to deal with. I very much look forward to having another opportunity to work with him.
We have worked with Peter on a new house build in St. John's Wood NW8 - a conservation area with many tricky rules around planning. Peter's vast local knowledge and experience with Westminster City Council, local conservation society proved to be a source of invaluable advice. Highly recommended - very professional, has a nice balance between big picture and attention to detail!
Working with Ungar Architects was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Peter approached our project with a great deal of passion and care and was personally involved in all aspects of planning and delivery. It was a very challenging scheme so this attention to detail was crucial and we are thrilled with the final result. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ungar Architects and look forward to working with them again the future.
Peter Ungar is a gifted architect with great vision. He developed plans with great imagination and sensitivity to add a new annexe and reconfiguration of a house and surrounding areas that included rest and recreation areas and wonderful creative use of the spaces that were there. He was inclusive of our needs and requirements, showed enthusiasm for the work and stayed within our budget. His professionalism is worthy of the highest praise.
We are long-standing residents of NW11. Recently we were looking to carry out some work to our house in Hampstead Garden Suburb. Ungar Architects were recommended to us by several people and we commissioned them for our project. From the start to finish we found Peter's attention, integrity and professionalism to be first rate. He safely navigated us through the HGST planning application 'obstacle course' and managed the entire project with enormous skill and creativity. We could not be happier with his work. That's why we were surprised to read the negative review, as it does not reflect the experience that we had working with Peter.
We have worked with Peter Ungar over a number of projects over a number of years and rarely have we seen such attention to detail both in design and in the inspection of contractors works, demanding the highest standards. These attributes were certainly shown in a recent project in Fairhome Gardens, London, N3 which was a major refurbishment of this detached family home and his efforts resulted in an extremely successful project.
Ungar Architects provided our team with excellent service throughout a >£1m 8mth project, expertly navigating us through planning, listed building consent, strip-out, building control, construction and snagging phases. Always responsive and frequently going far above and beyond to ensure the project was delivered to schedule and budget. Highly recommended.
After spending just under £15,000 Ungar Architects Limited, and being half way through an extension of my house, the owner Peter Ungar told me that he had changed his mind on the price of the job, despite the fact that I received the full costings in writing when the job commenced. He increased his agreed fixed fee and added an extra percentage of the cost of the building work which had never been agreed before, causing the agreed price to increase, potentially dramatically. I originally received multiple quotes from different companies and cost was one of the factors that caused me to choose Ungar Architects Limited, so I felt I had been taken advantage of when Peter Ungar decided to change the costs. I wouldn't have left this complaint as I’m not normally one to complain online, but dealing with a company who would act in this way left me feeling like I had no choice but to switch to another company with a better work-ethic. Ungar Architects are now refusing to send me the CAD drawings which my new architect needs and I'm therefore having to pay up to £2,000 more for another set of drawings, which all Ungar Architects need to do is attach to an email and send to me, but they won't do it because they said it's not in their terms and conditions. However - I wouldn't have thought changing the price of the job half way through is in their terms and conditions either! Furthermore, the original drawings that were made of the proposed extensions were, in my opinion, average, but because of the restrictions because of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust, I was lead to believe that this was the best that could be done. However, when the plans were sent to the Trust, they came back with a totally different suggestion which ended up being very beautiful. The Trust made a drawing for Ungar Architects and advised of their own ideas, and Ungar Architects used these ideas to update my drawings. This was one of the worst experiences I have had working with a company but thankfully I have now found somebody that seems extremely professional with a lot of integrity and I am looking forward to moving forward with. Unfortunately I'm going to have to pay for the CAD drawings twice but I suppose that's the price I'm paying for finding a company that seem very good. Update: Since my first email to Ungar Architects, informing him that I would be writing a Google complaint, all of his old Google reviews, of which there were seven - became new. They were from a few years ago and now they are from the past couple of days. This makes me extremely suspicious about the source of the reviews. Furthermore, every time I have updated this review, the account named P P has been updated so that it moves above this one - this P P account belongs to the owner Peter Ungar who has reviewed himself. Furthermore I have received a 'cease and desist' letter from Ungar Architects demanding that I remove the complaint. It makes me wonder if letters like this are sent to anybody that leaves a complaint and is perhaps one of the reasons why there are no other complaints. This is just speculation of course.
Peter was professional and knowledgeable throughout our build, he managed the project to a high standard and ensured that the contractor delivered. We are very pleased with the outcome and would recommend Peter highly.
Having known and worked with Peter for over 20 years I know him to be kind, professional and acting with integrity at all times. He's a first class architect for whom we have a huge amount of respect.
