What a fantastic shopping experience at Ultimate Outdoors! The shop was incredibly well-stocked, and we found everything we needed at prices that beat even the best deals online. From camping gear to hiking boots, they had it all. We purchased quite a bit, and the staff were super attentive and helpful. A special shoutout to the gentleman who greeted us at the entrance and even helped us carry our purchases to the car. We’re sorry we didn’t catch his name, but his assistance was greatly appreciated! Overall, our visit was top-notch, and we'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend checking out Ultimate Outdoors if you’re in the area!
Found at the Riverside retail park. Plenty of parking which is free. This is an outdoor shop owned by jd sports. Half of it is clothing, from base layers to jacket and trousers. Footwear including walking boots and socks are available at the bottom There's currently a very small stock of kayaks. Another chunk of the shop is for outdoor living and camping. There are LOADS of sleeping bags, blow up beds, tables and chairs.... basically anything you need for camping. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Willing to give advice if you need it. Barry was exceptionally helpful in explaining how to use a compass the correct way. Worth a visit. Prices are reasonable too !
We had a problem with a tent we purchased, Ryan A sorted the issue quickly and professionally and could not apologise enough. Excellent customer service and 100% should be a store manager . Thank you again.

Not exactly a place I will visit in a hurry, only wanted laces, looked at the men's trousers and although the ticket was well reduced, still were slightly more expensive than other outlets. In the footwear section, I was approached by a shy young girl asking could she help, but obviously newish as after my reply, I was told, we only do boot laces not shoe laces. I bought the shortest they had and actually turned out to be shorter than the originals. Product knowledge needed.
Barry was fantastic, helped me with everything I asked and needed throughout my visit. Brought a rubbish bbq last week and he advised me which one was the best & I'm very happy with it.
Used to work for Blacks, well before the Millets and JD Sports takeovers. Nice to see that it still has the quality end of camping and walking equipment covered. Bought some walking socks and walking shoes / trainers.
As there are few outdoor shops around its ok. This is part of JD sports group. Effectively aimed at outdoor clothing as everyday wear, or for those once a year trips to the countryside. The selection is really just own brand Peter storm, euro hike etc or cheaper stuff with a few bits from the bigger reliable brands. Prices on these are high but that’s to encourage buying their own brands. Outdoor equipment not clothing or footwearcan be a reasonable price but limited. Staff are friendly and have little knowledge about the products. Perfectly ok as a showroom to look at stuff but much cheaper elsewhere online.
Went in for some trousers, met Barry, top chap, very helpful not too pushy left me to it, came away with trousers and a jacket. Great service 10/10.
Very disappointed with their service. I ordered a cool box for £89. They confirmed the order and then sent no email updates for 5 days, whilst I waited for the delivery to finally arrive. Whilst waiting for the deliver they dropped the price by £10. I contacted them to request a £10 refund as the price was reduced before I received the item. Finally they replied to me saying I would need to return the item and order it again if I wanted it at the lower price! That’s just crazy. I will not be ordering with this company again. Terrible communication and attitude in their emails. They won’t even price match their own price, even though their website says they do price match plus 10%. And very slow delivery.
