Picked up a wild mushroom risotto from their fruit and veg stall at lunchtime. It tasted good and was quicker than many of the other stalls serving hot food, but the portion size was a bit small for the money.
We wanted to treat ourselves, and chose to try Turnips, which is a fruit and vegetables shop during the day, located inside the Borough Market, who recently launched a restaurant in the interesting and unusual setting of a food market. We were looking for a great dining experience, and we were not disappointed! We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and everything was so good and really prepared with love and felt looked after by the staff, who explained the dishes and the wines that came with them. Our favourite dishes were the oysters really, really WOW and the slow cooked duck breast. The desserts were also to die for, is the pastry chef a magician? Each dish had many flavours and textures in it, but once you took the bite you could taste every single ingredient, in my opinion it was really impressive.
Mushroom risotto looks seemingly unappealing but we decided to give it a try. Turn out to be one of our best dish at borough market! Flavor packed and generous portion!
Absolutely perfect food. Staff was impleccable. We stayed speechless after all the dinner. Worth to pay every pound.
10/10 THE BEST RISOTTO in the world! If you love mushrooms, risotto and Parmesan then THIS is the dish for you! From the prize and portion to the consistent and fulfilling layers of bliss there is no better comfort food in the world!
Went to Borough Market as part of a family day out to London. We were wandering around looking for some lunch and I literally followed the amazing smell and found Turnips. I ordered the mixes wild mushrooms on bulgar wheat with cheese. Tasted as good as it smelled. Some of the grains were a bit hard but that's to be expected. I highly recommended it if you are ever that way!!
They have set up a small dining area in half the shop. Great food, probably because they use the same fresh produce they sell. The pizzas are amazing!!!
Really place at the Borough Market. We had the famous Mushroom Risoto and jt was really good and tasteful. Good price considering they serve a very good portion.
We were celebrating my vegetarian daughter’s 18th birthday with the vegetarian tasting menu and were not disappointed. In fact I’m almost lost for words. The food was exceptional but what took it to another level was the theatre that accompanied it. The presentation, the view of the kitchen, the service and the attention to detail that had been given to the glassware, crockery and cutlery, all on the set of a bustling market with the wonderful rumble of trains above you. To all the kitchen staff, you are amazing!
Fab night at Turnips Borough Market! Lovely food, great setting and excellent service from the staff.
